Need opinion on Watts for Subs please

come on man, you can't argue that a type r wouldn't do the job here. It's a great sub and can take alot of power. I was just making a suggestion to make it easier, i know they can get loud ported and for the price only the SE can compete with it.
Yeah I didn't read the heard down the block part at first. He also just posted he wants to shake the ground. So I agree with you now.

OP: If your on a budget, type R's may be your best 'ground pounding' option.

This can be done with 300 watts...
OMG, whatever you say man. My first setup was 300 rms ported, i think i would know a little bit about this.

I'm not trying to argue here, but 300 watts isn't much man. The OP wants it loud if you can't tell.

edit: Ok, i see that you didn't see that part. It's all good now.

okay, okay, okay, thanks for info but no arguing.

:]

Those subs do look nice though, i will agree to that.

another newbie question, because i lack the patience at the moment to do my own research..

If i had two subs, do i want a amp that has two channels, or are those irrelevant?

My first setup was MTX 8500 12" off 400 watts, and I could be heard over a quarter-almost half mile away. I don't really find it relevant though. Being heard from far away doesn't determine how loud you are, just how much bass is being lost from your car.

Edit: We both agree.

You'll want a mono channel amp.

Are you on a budget? How much space do you have on hand for a box? Do you have an amp? Do you already have subs? What kind of electrical and car do you have?

These are all important questions.

Yes, a budget. Ha, not much space at all. 2001 chevy silverado single cab. No amp. No subs. Was asking these questions before, so i would, hopefully, have less chance to muff up.

The kind of bass your talking about is going to be kinda expensive, Type-r's would be ok if you went with the 15's if you got some dough to spend on a REAL system i would go with some incriminator audio Death Penalty's or something by Fi.. Be prepared to spend around $4-500 on subs and about another $4-5 on a amp, thats not to mention 0guage and a high output battery to power the amp

give a price for subs and the amp you want and the people here will find the best options for you.

Silverado. So you have a decent sized alt. Do you have an estimate as to how much space you have available for your box? This won't necessarily determine your sub, but rather what size sub.

It does sound like a type R and a good budget amp would be your best bet though.

Mhm, anywhere from $100-$300 for subs, and same price range for a amp.

Low budget

:p

I first asked my question because i can get two kicker comp 12'' subs, at 150w rms, 300w max each, for $90.

No idea about available space for the box at the moment.

:/

i would definitely go with the Alpine type r 12's and a hifonics bxi 1606d or 2608d for that price.

Hell, i'm selling my type r's and hifonics amp for $310 shipped on here. All is in good condition, let me know if your interested.
