Go with what fits...space and budget....What a mess! I'm in the 10 vs 12 stage right now. All myths point to 10s being "cleaner and harder hitting", but I know there is so much more to it than that. I'd rather have 12's (I think), I just need to convince myself, or be convinced, that it's the way to go.
Get the 12's. More cone area. /thread //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifI've noticed that 12's are not very much more than 10's. (Example, SSA GCON 10" = $189, 12" = 199). Space is not an issue, going behind the rear seats of a 2007 Dodge Ram Megacab...so neither are really limitations on me.
dbeez, or rabbitThat was easy...thanks guys. Now to find someone to build my box.
I disagree. First 2 times i built a box it blew to pieces. Id rather to pay for top quality. This hobby is all about $$, so why does purchasing a box make it less of a hobby?Build it yourself. Good skills to have if you're going to be in the car audio game. Honestly, I look down on people that don't design and build their own systems that say they're into car audio.
All you need is a circular saw, a drill, and some patience.
You're not really in the hobby if all you do is buy crap and slap it in your car.
This hobby is not all about money. It's about making the best system for your needs with what you have.I disagree. First 2 times i built a box it blew to pieces. Id rather to pay for top quality. This hobby is all about $$, so why does purchasing a box make it less of a hobby?
Some people do not have the time, space, or tools needed to build their own boxes. I do not look down on those who would rather pay to get a box designed/built. At least they aren't throwing their subs in a prefab. This hobby is not all about money. It's about making the best system for your needs with what you have.
And because you can't build your own system, it means you don't know **** about car audio. All you do is pay others to do it for you instead of learning.
The cost of the tools is more than covered by the cost of having someone professionally build you a box. A craftsman circular saw/drill combo can be had for $75. And I've built in apartments. So those are null and void excuses. Some people do not have the time, space, or tools needed to build their own boxes. I do not look down on those who would rather pay to get a box designed/built. Poor anology. "Being a homeowner" would be the same if you built your house or paid somebody. Doesnt make you less of a homeowner for buying your house rather than building it.The cost of the tools is more than covered by the cost of having someone professionally build you a box. Not having the time....
If you don't have the time for your hobby, then it's not your hobby or way of life.
People that don't build/design their own systems are not car audio guys. They are people who buy it and throw it in their car.
It's like me saying I'm a construction worker (I am not) because I bought a house.
That just means your a shitty builder who didn't do reasearch on how to build a proper enclosure. It's pretty simple buddy , titebond , screws and a couple hours.I disagree.
