My Sub went up in flames....literally

i havent posted here in hella...but I know there are people who "know their stuff" on this board. ....

so I just get off the freeway when my subs cut out...I then notice smoke in the rear-view.

Luckily I live close by the exit, so I pull the car into my driveway.

Open the trunk and flames are shooting up from one of my Mayhem Alphasonik 12's...not smoke, this thing was actually on fire.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rage.gif.0ad8a6e5565b5fddce406566fdd05149.gif To where it scorched the underside of the rear deck in my car.

Soooooo, Im thinkin I need a re-cone:banghead: anyone know a good place to send it besides Alphasonik*?

Its a pretty good sub....when its not trying to kill me

It is not IB. the subs fire into a box thats ported into the cabin.

holy smokes! No pun intended... I really wish you could have got a pic of the sub in flames.... that is nasty. Also, PSI can rebuild the sub for you.

This is why I don't build subs with stitched in leads or leads sandwiched between spiders.

Recone will cost probably 50$ or so in materials + shipping two ways + someone will probably charge for labor. You may be better off replacing since you're looking at around 150$ and you could probably do better for that money.
