My planned system, got some questions :D

I forgot thats where it went hahaha... Need anymore stuff these days? lol
Just got a Soundstream DTR 1700.1d from Spooney.... Think my next move is either getting a single 15" skar or IA

or just buying another d2 skar 12 and see what kind of reall damage i can do. but what ya got man.. always looking lol

****, I'd get 2 of those in my trunk if I could. but then my budget increases +$200 bucks -_-
Now on my Massive Audio V 12 Build, I noticed that those subs are dual 4 ohm subs, which means they can't be wired to 2 ohms, its either 4 ohms or 1 ohm. With the amplifier listed, a 2 ohm load would give those subs 300 watts RMS a piece, which is perfect but it won't happen. I don't want to wire anything with a 1 ohm more than 750 watts x 1 in my car, or I might as well kiss my alternator goodbye. Any advice? Different SVC subs? Different Amp? Or did I just get the DVC ohm load incorrect?
Dude with this one sub, you could hear me 2-3blocks away if i have my windows rolled down...

I'm running stock alternator on 1k man... 105amp / 80amps at idle 105amps at high rpm

OP I have a Single Skar VVX-12 I got with the custom box, sounds awesome even on 400 watts. Box is tuned to 33hz, sounds great at all frequencies, especially the lows. After it gets a little warmer I'm going to buy a 1000wrms amp and see how that treats it.

AS far as them Massive's i couldn't guess man...
I had 2 JL 12w3s giving them rms specs of 300watts each.. they don't even come close to this single skar... and yes i had them even at 500watts and alil more and they never got close to this loud or hitting as hard
Whoa Whoa whoa!! I just heard 2 12w3's in a ford Ranger, the 10' versions in a ported downfiring box, and it was by far the loudest system I've heard, being inside the car atleast. You would've thought that those were 2 12's on atleast 500 watts RMS per sub. And you say the single SKAR hits louder?!?!?! I think you just answered my question sir!!

Thats the loudest you have heard?! Damn those things are quiet too lol

The loudest I've heard overall is a van called "Endall" in a SPL contest in Northglenn. 4 18's I think 5000 watts RMS, hit 160.1db.. But I wasn't in the van, nor would I have wanted to be.

I've decided I am going to go with 1 Skar '15 sub, and the custom ported box for $250. Now I just need to find an amp that will output 600-700 watts RMS at 1 ohm or 4 ohms. Unless the Skar can take 1000 watts RMS, then I would just get an Audiopipe mini 1000. Suggestions? I don't want to spend more than $150.

I'm running my skar 12 daily on 1k man... doesn't even get warm ... seems like it really started shinning when i went from 450-600 to 1k

Okay. Now the question is, how would my 80 amp alternator suffer with a 1000 watts being ****** from it? Can I wire it down to 1 ohm at 1000 watts and then lower the wattage with the gains? I want to to around 750 watts max to the sub so my alternator can live.

Now based on this information I have a couple questions.

1. With my alternator listed above, would my car be able to handle pulling 500/900 watts RMS from the respective amps listed.

2. I don't want my speakers to play bass. I want the subs to play bass, I want the speakers to play everything else, do I need to have a 5 channel amp to achieve this, since my HU doesn't have a crossover, or does the subs amp handle this?

3. For the budget price of no more than $300 what other combination of subs, and amps could I look into?

4. Will the subs listed be able to handle 450watts RMS if I choose the bigger 900 watt RMS amp?

5. Will the subs be noticeably louder with the KAC-9105 at the same volume vs the KAC-8105, or is it just better efficiency at that point?

6. Is the calculation 500 watts / 12 volts = 41 amps correct, will 500 watts RMS pull 41 amps, and will 900 watts RMS pull 75 amps from the alternator?

7. What else should I know, anything, as I want to be as educated on the subject as possible, so I don't have to worry about something going wrong once I do purchase the system.
1. yes

2. no you dont need another unless you find the power in the HU weak.

3. re audio, audiopipe, cheap mtx's

4. im sure they can handle the power

5. not likely louder

6. amps usually run at 70% power. so the amp would not rob the battery of 41 or 75 amps

7. set the gains on the amplifier correctly or you will risk blown amp/subs. dont get best buy to do the installation for you.
