Context?Wtf is going on.
Weird. I guess the DSP developers are paying more attention to the DSP units themselves and less on the configuration software. The alpine is not a new DSP. They all run on Windows, even the most recent ones.
Every current DSP runs on windows. Helix, Mosconi, Alpine, MiniDSP and clones, even the brand new JL TwK.Weird. I guess the DSP developers are paying more attention to the DSP units themselves and less on the configuration software.
Are you sure "They all run on Windows"? Do you have personal experience with ALL DSPs existing? Or are you just universalizing your opinions again?

I don't make a habit of researching each and every DSP on the market past and present. Any that have software which runs on Macbook Pro? Just curious.Every current DSP runs on windows. Does your mac run windows? If no than no.I don't make a habit of researching each and every DSP on the market past and present. Any that have software which runs on Macbook Pro? Just curious.

Cool! Thank you!Does your mac run windows? If no than no. I have researched every DSP. This is what I do in my free time.
Exactly what I'm doing too. But I don't intend on keeping it in my car, probably. Unless I could get a 12V power converter to keep my cheap Win laptop's batteries charged, but even then, no probably not. I'll just pull it out of my house fully charged and hook it up to Baby II's DSP via USB to do tunning with when needed. Most people just get a cheap little netbook to keep in the car.
Real question. Do you know how to tune, use a RTA, have access to a RTA, know what a good response curve is and how to achieve it across every active channel, set crossover points, understand slopes and the different kinds of slopes?Exactly what I'm doing too. Whatever we call it is immaterial to what it actually is. How do YOU define a "component set" as opposed to a separate bass/midrange driver and high frequently/tweeter driver? I suppose your definition of component set could also include a middle range discrete/separate driver too.Real question. Do you know how to tune, use a RTA, have access to a RTA, know what a good response curve is and how to achieve it across every active channel, set crossover points, understand slopes and the different kinds of slopes?I mean you obviously don't know what a component set is since you call it separate tweeters and passive crossover.
Just saying, going in blind will have a very bad outcome and blown equipment.
I define component set as the proper definition of component set. 2 way, 3 way. Still a component set.Whatever we call it is immaterial to what it actually is. How do YOU define a "component set" as opposed to a separate bass/midrange driver and high frequently/tweeter driver? I suppose your definition of component set could also include a middle range discrete/separate driver too.
I'd love to play with an RTA and my system, but I don't know if I ever will be able to. I think I'm just gonna play with each and every setting for each driver I have and call that "gud enuf", tune everything to my ears. But I'm not even there yet. Installer guy and I are working towards getting everything I have connected and working, but we are not there yet! At this point in time I'm still listening to my HU playing through the factory wiring to all drivers I have installed. not optimally either. Yet!

I run my Alpine PXA software on a MacBook Pro as well...I used Parallels, partitioned my HD and installed Windows (I forget which version, I'll have to look when I get home) on there. I have had no issues with Parallels/Windows or with the Alpine software on the MacBook.Cool! Thank you!
I could get a Windows emulator program for my Macbook Pro, like virtual machine (VM), etc. But that;s just another software layer of potential bugs/incompatibilities which I'd prefer to stay away from.

Aha! Good information, thank you! I may look into that, but like I've said I have a cheap WinXP notebook computer ordered and it should be to me by next week. USB port and everything! CD drive, etc. Should be good for configuring this Alpine DSP, but I may look into it.
