My first "Active" "SQ'ish" build attempt.

I just discovered that traditional tweeters aren't even necessary. I am running from a cheap $60 Pioneer short chassis media receiver into the DSP from the DSP into the Alpine amp and the RF Prime amp. I am running everything as I posted above. Stereo doors, mono sub. No "tweeters" and it sounds amazing and is louder than before.

The Pioneers volume is maxed out at 62 and on the DSP the levels were between -10db and -5db on the meters so no volume adjustments were needed.

Hopefully the fires in California don't delay the shipping of my amplifier... hopefully nobody puts themselves in harms way to ship my amp.

I scored myself a Bluetooth dongle for my dsp for less than a 3rd of what they cost retail. I ordered a pair of Massive Audio Aluminum dome tweeters (they were cheap, brand new and I just want to hear a metal dome compared to the two soft domes I had previously... and they swivel). I am about to pull the trigger on the US Acoustics Wendy 2 channel amp.

I found another set of the Alpine tweeters I have so I ordered them. They fit so perfect in the factory locations and they sound so good I figured, what the hell. The metal domes will get here first so I will use them. Once I get a second vehicle again I am going to have some spare stereo parts to throw in it.

It is moving forward. I have installed the tweeters in the pods with silicone RTV. They are going to dry for a while then I will get them in the car today hopefully.

Just spent some time in the car with the mic and the laptop. It's almost there. It's loud as hell and clear as a slightly tarnished bell. Here are pics of the REW averages... I did some EQing in between each average. Each average is of 6 readings. The arrows in the last pics are the final EQing to be done next. I didn't measure after the final EQing as it sounds great!

Those Silverflute 6.5" midbass are moving some air. I have been in shorts all day and while I was listening to some different music at high volumes I could feel the midbass speakers moving the hairs on my legs with some force. I may have them in their sweet spot band passed from 90hz to 1500hz. If I set the gain for them on the amp with a sine wave at 20v (100w) then musically what do you think they are doing? 75 - 80w?

I was going to buy my Double Din head unit as I have made a decent amount of excess money in tips. I have been eyeballing the Kenwood eXcelon DMX706S and the price dropped on it so I decided to look at the owners manual again in detail this time. I want to be able to use Android Auto but I also want to attach at a minimum 250GB of music via a USB SSD. Turns out the DMX706S has but one USB cable 😢

So what I have to do now is save up for like one more week and I am going to go with the Kenwood eXcelon DNX696S which has TWO USB cables and a MicroSD card slot. The MicroSD slot is compatible with NTFS and a capacity up to 2TB. WhoooHoooo!! I am sold!!! Basically I can have copies of ALL of my HiRes music files permanently installed in my head unit! 😜 From ABBA to Witchery and everything in between.

Thermostat is holding tight and working perfectly. No coolant leaks.

Had my brother in the car and he said all my sound is coming from my now A-pillar mounted Alpine tweeters lol. It's not true but the way it is imaging it sounds like the music is coming from the forward dash area. I told him to lean forward toward the tweeter and he said he could hear it drop to the doors. I guess the illusion is working.

All check engine lights are taken care of... no more damn codes. However, now the radio doesn't turn off on its own. I suspect the Axxess harness as the culprit so I ordered a new one and I will remove the harness, rewire it, cover neatly with Tesa Tape then try it out. If it works I am ordering the Kenwood Excelon DMX706S double din and tossing that in... you know, so I can redo all the pain in the ass 3Sixty.3 settings. Also... since my car can't hear me right now, I am going to sell it and get a 2000 - 2004 Subaru Outback. Once I have that car I will transfer the stereo... most of it to the Subaru.

Now I can go to work. I know I know... it's refurbished. It still has a Kenwood warranty so I am good. I visually inspected it... there are no blemishes or scratches. It literally looks brand new.
