multimeter setting

ok this may have been a stupid question since i didnt provide any other info. sry bout that. I have a h/u that gives out 2V. I would like to set the gain on my Hifonics 1500BX which is connected to two Alpine Type R's with a 2 Ohm load. So I know exactly what to do except for this one thing which is where to set the multimeter to. After using the search button on this site I know that it should be somewhere in the ACv range however I dont know where in that range. It is a small range yet it makes all the difference.

I've owned that meter.

dude I don't know if it's an online thing or not (are you going to have it shipped to you or are you buying from a store), but I got this 29-range dmm from the shack a while ago and still have it. it's a good meter, more features & better looking than that one. I'm not a go-for-looks guy but you'd be happier with this meter. I see it says $30 on the site, but at my store it was $20...could've been on sale, but I say go to the store first.

another thing to consider is that the yellow meter takes one of those small 12volt batteries (which are expensive), while this meter just takes 3AAA's. just something to think about, but any one would be fine

start at the highest AC volts range and then keep stepping down until the next step is below what you are reading, that will give you the most accurate reading without possibly damaging the meter

Thier was this one DMM at Lowes, it has automatic sensing or something

Only potions were DC AC ohms and something else.

I had a RS meter like it but i fried it some how....it was sweet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

as i thought i would have i ran into some problems i think.

with the 50hz track in my h/u, my readin on the mm is over .100 and goes into the the .400s as i set the gain higher and higher. This is when the vol. of my h/u is set to what i would use it on max which is 22. However when I put the volume on like 12 the readin goes back to double digits goin any where from 12 to 70.

However when I play the radio or another regular cd, the mm is readin anywhere from 12 to 70 when the volume is at my personal max, however it is jumping around everywhere.

What is goin on? Should the units be in mV or V or what?

Could it be the 50hz track or the cd i burned it on?

Ill try again to but hope someone can help.

it should be in volts, and music will vary greatly so 12-70 volts from music is fine

with that being said, when you have the test tone, it should read about 70, maybe a little higher

**** i still get in the .300s range when ever i put my volume up on my personal max with a 50 hz tone. well i guess ill try gettin dl the same tone from sumwhere else. maybe thats the problem.

would pink noise be better than a 50hz tone?

So 135Vac is to high ?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/imdaman.gif.bc6c552e19aa4ad8c47461144f40eb1a.gif
