1) i am taking the reading outiside in the trunk of my car.

2) the amp is a hifonics 1500BX and at a 2Ohm load its supposed to give out 1000rms (maybe overrated but thats what i am goin with).

so basically i am lookin for this number to come up on my mm when i put it on volume 22 (my personal max) : sqrt(1000*2)=44.721...

(this is with the 50hz in the h/u)

however what i keep reading is something in the .3** V

i have tried a couple times already yet no good results

maybe its the 50hz track i am using. can any one help me out?

i think he meant where are you sticking the probes, not where you physically are lol

Stick the probes on one + and one -. Make sure the probs are in the COM and V inputs on the DMM. Make sure you are measuring AC and not dc.

well there are 2 of each and they go like this

+ + - -

underlined ones is where i am puttin the probes. (red is positive and red is negative)

and they its already connected to the mm so i didnt have to do it on that end.

and i am suppose to be measuring ac voltage not ac current right?

well i guess then the only thing left to try is a different 50hz track and then im just goin to return it and try another mm.

anyone know where i can get a cheap oscope. i tried googling it but it took me to all these high tech sites which have all sorts of expensive oscopes. Not too sure what to look for either.

cheap and oscope don't come in the same sentence very often.

on ebay you should be able to find one for like $200-$250 if you really want one

Maybe the amp isn't working? Hook up your subs and set the gain by ear first. 50Hz track on a CD is correct. Make sure you have the lowpass mode on, with freq set for 70-80 Hz. Set your HU at 2/3 and turn up the gain slowly. Subs should get rather loud. Then unhook the subs and connect your DVM to the wires for the final setting.

j/k...but only thing I can think of is is make sure the sine wave is @ 0dBFS.
