I've heard to many horror stories about L5's and L7's going up in smoke //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
**** running most new Kickers over their rated rms burns them up pretty quick, simply not the quality product it used to be now that Sony owns them. Every single MTX sub I have owned has held up to at least double its rms for at least 5 mins with no damage done and getting a little warm and stinky(which is to be expected). From the baby Road Thunder series with the 1.5"vc to the 9500 series and everything in between. Never had a chance to play with Alpine gear.
