preciate it guys. I just wanted to make sure i understood everything before i bought it. $300+ dollars may not be alot to some people, but to some people it is. I really do appreciate all the info.

Yeah, do the dock, it just makes everything easier, when you hop in the car, you set the ipod in the dock and you are good to go, head unit volume will be the control. Amp gains are amp gains and will amplify the signal the same, you are dealing with a source, which will not affect that at all. The only downside is with the dock, you can't use any of the rubber covers out there, but if you are buying a black one, you prob. weren't planning on covering it up anyway.

The only reason i was wondering if http://www.nyko.com/nyko/products/?i=44# would work is because controlling the ipod and actually having it in ur hand is easier than having it stationary somewhere and trying to control it leaning over, out of ur comfort zone. I might get the dock as well at the cord thing and test both of them to see which i like better. Thanks again.
