About the weight, I'm surprised i haven't seen more "big woofer" builds use a 2x4 to brace up the 80+lb motor some of these subs have
I was considering doing this as well in sort of a box frame design. I also was thinking of using angle iron to do that. *not so sure about the metal on metal though* Maybe something I can add to it to help cushion it while sitting on a iron frame. IDK Just thinking out loud.

 
I use 2X3's in my boxes (I've been running 80+ pounders for a while now). They're cheap, strong, light, and you can cut with a MUCH cheaper saw than you need to do angle iron.
