Looking for a new system, need help coming up with equipment.

Not a bad set up either....That HU is out of stock atm,but they usually get them in pretty quick at Sonic
ya noticed the sub would probably be better as a dual 2 for the 1 ohm load to get the amp pusing its real 8-900 rms

but yours was not bad i went on ebay to find that amp lol i wasnt able to :/

That amp is still on Ebay..It is a true 2ohm stable amp and will push a true 4-500rms,and is like a 113db amp with 0.01% distortion, and only need 1-40amp fuse for the power @2ohms,and 2ohms for his car will be much better on the electrical than 1ohms,without having to upgrade to get close to 14.4v for any new amplifier.I use all old school amps.Hopefully, I can get some pics of my finished system in about 2weeks.Yes sir that amp is a Hifonics CyclopsVIII 100 mono block, and is White/Rare for $95 shipped.Pretty Brute amp

look this wont be a popular statement but these people on here are RIDICULOUS!
most of their recemendations for a typical person are non-sense they arnt bad but are overkill for the typical person

a 400 dollar budget is tough but possible but will probably be closer to 500 still very cheap for everything including a deck BUT dont expect top class equipment or something overly impressive...

here is a rough rundown

Pyle PLD33MU In-Dash 3" LCD Monitor DVD/CD/MP3 Car Stereo Receiver - HU very nice at the price (not a good name but good reviews and decent features) better yet this comes with vehical specific instillation kits and everything FREE of charge

Alpine SWR-1243D (SWR1243D) 12" Dual 4 ohm Type-R Car Subwoofer - ONE 12 inch type r (for example) this sub will get louder than 2 pos 12s for the price

Power Acoustik OVN1-2000D (ovn12000d) 2000W Max, Class D - Power Acoustik amp this will not do anywhere near claimed rated BUT will do well for the type r

Custom Enclosures 121KPRO 121RP, 121KPRO - Sonic Electronix - Nice ported prefab box type r could do find in it i believe

Absolute KIT-4GR 4-Ga Complete Amplifier Installation Wiring Kit - 4 guage wiring kit includes some speaker wire

like i said this is really quickly thrown together not a lot of time spent or anything but a solid basic system for under 500 everything before shipping is 477 EVERYTHING even wiring harness and dash install kit box amp sub and wiring kit
Have you tried watching a movie on a screen that's smaller than that of an iPhone, from four feet away? I'll let you in on a secret -- it doesn't work. Don't get that Pyle head unit.

If you get the Type R, get it from here: Alpine SWR-1243D Component Car Subwoofers at Onlinecarstereo.com

And get this amp. That Power Acoustik would probably be putting out less than 600W at 1Ohm. MB Quart ONX1.1000D - ONYX Class D Monoblock Car Amplifier/Amp

What is the box tuned to? That's very important.

You can be sure that that wiring kit is not true 4 AWG.

I think you're forgetting that he already has a cheap, basic system. Switching prefabs and overrated small amps isn't going to help him out. He's better off keeping what he's got.

yeah that hifonics amp for the price would be nice.

and ive owned one of those power acoustik amps they are not too bad 60 amp fuse rating gotta b a solid 6 to 700 rms im thinking at 1 ohm it did good for me..

and the type r can take much more power and get much louder in a box more tuned to it than them MTX ever could.

and as for the box like i said the entire thing was quickly thorwn together...

Thanks all for the suggestions, but a few questions.

First off regarding subs, would it be higher quality/louder to get one Alpine Type R, or a pair of 12" Kicker Comps? Would one Alpine R outperform two Kicker Comps? (12"). Or would two 10" Kicker CVRs perform well?

Also I have a small car and am using stock electrical so I can't go crazy on the power as my lights already dim with my current system. Granted I still need to do the Big 3, which I plan on doing real soon.

I didn't plan on getting speakers because a few reasons. 1) I'm on a fairly tight budget as it is, 2) I have no experience with installing speakers and don't know what sizes to get in my car, and 3) Speakers would take more power from my stock system so I'd have to get a low power subwoofer(s)/amp to make sure it all runs fine on my stock electrical system.

The Type R would sound much better than either of the Kickers.
Kickers blow.
Haha fair enough. So one Alpine R alone will outperform them? Would one Alpine R be an upgrade from what I am currently using with those two 10" MTX Magnums?

Thanks in advance. Also would speakers plug in to my 'new' HU or the amp?

Yes, you should notice a huge difference in both sound quality and loudness with a Type R, new amp, and box.

Did your car come with a factory Bose or Infinity system? If so, you'd have to run new speaker wire for your speakers. Either way, you can get speakers that will perform well on your head unit or an amp. The less you want to spend, the less power you'll need, usually.

This what I got so far.

Again MisterDeadeye, I appreciate your opinion but that's all it is. YOUR OPINION. Which is not fact, and never will have precedent over my opinion to myself. The fact of the matter is I'm a 17 year old that works 35 hours a week at a part-time job in addition to going to High School so I can save up for college, even though I'm going to have thousands of dollars in debt for student loans as it looks currently.
I understand that you think I can't find all that stuff for under $400, but I've actually prepared multiple carts on SonicElectronix all under $401.36 (Which was the highest) that encompasses all I am looking for. I just wanted to come on here to get some advice and input to help me formulate a solution to my problem.

I know you think only spending $400 is almost a waste of money because things aren't the greatest, but I am not in a position to spend more than that. My car isn't even that nice and cost me $1100 in the first place, I'm not going to spend the same amount on car audio as the car itself costs, that's just (to quote you) That's just not logical.

Anyway, thanks all for the input so far. Yes I'm willing to buy used, hence why I even registered for this site in the first place. I appreciate the fact that you have an opinion but just because mine differs you don't have to insult the strength of my thought process. I don't understand why you're being so aggressive with me. If this is what kind of help you get with being cynical and rude than I don't see how your victims receive any help.

Thanks all for your input so far though, it's been greatly appreciated!
bro Im also a 17 year old high school student with a part time job but I still managed to drop $4200 on my truck and another $5k on the sound system.... being young is not an excuse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

In just under a year I will be attending a school that costs $57,649 a year, //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif. I don't have 5k to drop on audio for an automobile.

Those 6.5" speakers will probably sound worse than your stock speakers, and I'd bet that the same could be said for those Eclipse 5"x7"s. Look for two way speakers, not three way - three way are usually either a gimmick, or just sound bad.

Boss amplifiers are just as bad. Bridged, you'll probably get about as much out of that as your MTX amp, which isn't putting out more than 250 or so at 4(if your voltage doesn't move from 14V).

That box looks very small to me. I have a feeling your Type R would not be very sensitive in there, and the box is probably tuned to 40Hz or higher.

The headunit is about as basic as they come. If you're okay with having only one set of preamp outputs(meaning you'll either have to use only one amp, or get an amp with outputs as well as inputs), then it's fine. For the price, I don't know. I'm sure you could get a used head unit that is much nicer for that much or less. I sold a Pioneer on here with 3 sets of 4V outs, USB, decent crossover capabilities, and a pretty adjustable equalizer, for $70 shipped.

Because your budget is so low, I suggest buying a used head unit, a Type R, and getting a box built(or building your own box, or finding one on Craigslist) for it.
