Lights dimming with good electrical

I got my 9515 installed and i am running my Memphis Mojo mc2000d at 1Ohm now. I know this is a power hungry Amp , but Jeez... I have a optima yt G34 as primary batt, Big 3 wiring, Iraggi 200amp Alt, and as good of grounds as i can get.. I mean, that is a stout Electrical system IMO...and my lights dim as much as ever.. but my voltage doesnt drop really bad compared to waht it used to.. it will go from 14ish to upper 11's and mid 12's on hard drawn out bass? Is a 2nd batt in order? I know yes but I figured i'd run it buy for suggestions and maybe find something i missed

I questioned the real output of that alt you got from Iraggi from the start. He quoted me over $100 more for a 200amp alt, and we have the same car.

 
imma go to autozone for testing soon... and Its teh Dominator series Alt, not the Amputator

also since the Install i have a noise in my sub when the volume is all the way down... kinda like a ground loop prob, but i never had this before, Also my HU will not cutoff with ignition power anymore, you have to manually turn the HU power off after the car is off....

I have a thought that My Door Chime harness that you HAVE to buy is came unhooked in some way, every now and then the "Security" light on my dash will come on, and my "Traction Control" light will come on.. and of course, my door chimes arent working.. as Power is harnessed and grounded thru that, It may be my prob altogether.. Imma pull the dash out and tear into it all tomorrow

 
uhmmm this amp is rated at 2ohms, but Im running her at 1ohm daily now... she gets warm but no where near hot... Dimming and Voltage drops got retarded at 2ohms on my old setup, and at 1ohm it isnt as bad as that but dimming is still harsh

Hardest part is trying to tune everything in to reduce clipping.. i have this terrible sound control Headunit and have it hooked to a EQ which helps alot, I got it tuned in nice without distortion and im tryinna watch my settings and make my best sure that i dont clip, But i know all this dimming isnt good

Anyone else think that working my door chime harness witll help my buzz and HU power probs? I am almost 90% sure that it, i may just do the ground loop fix while the HU is out anywyas

Also, are you getting dimming at idle or around 2000rpm? you have to remember your alt isnt putting out 200amps at idle. I would fix the harness problem and toss in another battery.

dims at both idle and 2000 rpms... Yea I knew most the answers, just wanted to run it by you guys and maybe hear more suggestions.. looks like a job i gotta do tomorrow...

yea but honestly hes probably in the range of 2-3 ohms after impedance rise, so i wouldnt say efficiency is out the window.

however, with that electrical you should not be dropping to low 11's. something is going on. either the alt is not putting out a true 200a, or you have a bad connection somewhere.

also, expect to get dimming even on a somewhat stout electical system. you will dim when voltage drops, even if its not that significant of a drop. you wont get rid of ALL dimming until you have a voltage that never changes (which will require a decent amount of batteries and that 200a alt).

for reference look at Lakota. hes running a kx2500 off a 200a mean green alt, plus an hc1800 and an hc2400, and still gets voltage drops. he has never states how low they go but as you can see, even what is considered a pretty good electrical system will still suffer voltage drops.

btw: dimming wont hurt anything, so long as your not dropping a sever amount of volts (try to stay in the 13's)

Iyeah we checked that when wired at 4 ohms and it calculated to like 500 watts at 15ohms or something stupid.. and finally read 3ohms at 1300 or 1800watts or something then we stopped messing with it, and started trying to tune everything in
 
I know, thats how it used to work, i cut the car off and open the door and hear a THUMP... now I cut car off open door and the music still plays, until i cut the HU power off.. I think this has to do with the Chime Harness, I had to pull my Equilizer out the other night and its been actin wierd ever since, and the EQ and Chime are near each other under my dash...

Man, do you have any probs with lack of midbass? it may just be my HU.. Imma try to get a Clarion or Pioneer screen soon, if all works out
