Nicely put...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/clap.gif.178cba2c538c68e720c727fcb024b19c.gifRealize one thing...the W7 is still a woofer. It'll blow as frequently as any other quality made woofer. Not only do you pay for the aforementioned reasons (patents/R&D..), you are made to pay an unreasonable amount of money for a fix/ recone because of it as well- and from what i hear these fees would actually buy you a whole new sub from another comparable manufacturer. It simply does not make sense for some consumers, and its understandable.
While I keep seeing the W7 being touted as an SQ woofer, its obvious of what big differences reside in the notion of Sound quality vs a sub that sounds good.
While the W7 may be a linear beast, it may produce effortless smooth bass, no mechanical noise, etc... doesnt mean squat to me if I dont feel tonally it can reproduce instrumental bass, in a transparent manner... the way that I can admire in lesser priced underhung woofers. Now I never expected a woofer to be perfect, but dear lord... if a company is going to label that sub as an SQ woofer, and price it where they do- i expect nothing less than sonic perfection- SQL subs are a dime a dozen that handle much more thermally, who needs one at that price...
Now, I happened to hear 2 12 W7s at Hot Import Nights, and they sounded exceptional, better than my xxx15. However, my box was made for street beating, not sound quality. Needless to say each sub sounds great. The only problem was, he was demo'ing it with the trunk open...and they were distorting
