JL audio vs Sundown

If your budget will allow you and you have the power available, then get the w7.

Also, look into the ssa subs.

(edit: didnt see your budget)

From someone who hasn't owned either but has built multiple boxes for both and heard quite a few applications of both, I would go with the sa. I'm an SQL guy by all means also. Out of all the applications and sizes (sealed, ported and 4th order (for both minus 4th order for the jl's), I would choose the sa ported.

But if money isn't the deciding factor, like someone said above, power should be the deciding factor.

>800 rms - JL

>1000 rms - SA

For you, it sounds like the sa would be the way to go. I read the first 2 pages and skipped to the end so I don't know if you were considering multiple subs. If you are and you don't have a whole lot of space, 2 sa's sealed in a decent size box with some polyfil would satisfy your wants. Temporarily of course lol. If you have space ported or a bandpass designed correctly would be the way to go.

Anyway.....
Like said above the GCON would be a nice option for you

I know you didn't want anyone to suggest other subs but this also is a good alternative. Have you looked at the Fi Q series?

What amp you powering them with? How much space do you have for a box, have you taken measurements yet? Those two things are important when selecting woofers now that we know pretty much what you want.

I wish you could hear my setup. A real **** near 150db SQ car
I want in.

I love a bass knob for this reason. At max, I can bump and get good output on rap and the like, though I can definitely tell it's coming from the trunk. Or, I can turn it down and have the subs completely disappear. Many people knock bass knobs, but I love mine.

My knob don't move from max. 400 pounds of Deadener and CCF keep the bass up front

I've never heard anyone knock a bass knob. I think they're good to have if you listen to different types of music. That's one thing that's a necessity for me

DC. But you have freaking XXXs. What's your front stage now? Do you have a dedicated mid bass?
Whoa, totally missed this. OP, you have XXX's? And you're looking at an SA-12???? WTF guys, no one else thinks that's a bit off?????????
