Is your school having an empty holster protest?

I do think that every single kid in college having a concealed weapon is a bad idea, and there should definitely be a push for more regulations on getting a concealed weapons permit for a college campus.
However, I'm not totally opposed to the idea. Was watching something on the news a couple weeks ago. About a kid who was paralyzed and went to school. If anything ever went down, that kid would be absolutely helpless. Cases like this, I don't have a problem at all with concealed weapons.
Every single kid in college wouldn't have a gun. Most people would not carry on campus and even more people wouldn't even know about those that did.

You gave an example about a kid in a wheelchair being helpless. I'll give the example of 32 people sitting in a classroom at Virginia Tech a year ago. They were just as helpless as the kid in the wheelchair.

I understand your point, but I'm unfamiliar with the type of background check you go through in order to get a concealed weapons permit.

Do they make sure that they aren't allowing a raging alcoholic who is also manic depressive to have a gun on campus?

Kinda hard to check for that, dont you think? But they do check your background, you cant have any felonies, or class A misdeameanors for 5 years and you obviously have to go through a 16 hour class.

If you guys are so against concealed carry (although i have no idea why, when its one of the last true rights that we have and should uphold it no matter what) then maybe you guys should request for stricter gun classes.

Right, because we are all inbred idiots. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Yes.

The forms you fill out to buy a gun also ask about mental illness, drugs, etc.

My reasoning is, the kids who are going to shoot up the school aren't sitting around waiting for permission to bring a gun to school. They aren't actively going out to get a C&C permit first. They don't care. They shoot you anyways. The ones that want this law to pass are the ones who would get a permit, and that do know how to safely use, handle, "play" with guns. I think it is a good idea. And if someone wants to take advantage of this and try to shoot someone at school, they know they will probably get shot back.

I just carry an AR-14 with a shoulder sling. No one fukks wit me. Haha.

yea, i got your pun, what I can't understand is the ignorant first post made by the other guy. I cant extrapolate any real meaning out of what he said.

And my question about the carrying on campus is the following.

Why?

Is it to prevent people from bringing guns to school because they know others are carrying?

If so then its not a true concealed carry if they know your carrying.

Is it to prevent people from coming to school because they may get into a shootout?

If so then look at it from a police perspective. Instead of 1 shooter you have 2 shooters who are shooting it out old west style in a crowded school. How are they going to tell them apart.

Remember how fast these things happen and the horrible information given out during the first hours of a shooting. I see no benefit of this at all.

I don't think it's beyond reason to ask for this kind of stuff. If they can find it out, then they should be looking for it. Make the person submit to a couple random drug tests. Make them visit a psychiatrist for a while. All at the expense of the person applying for the concealed permit as well. Unless there is some underlying legitimate factor as to why they feel they deserve the permit, ie. being paralyzed.

Yes.

Do they just ask about it, or do the authorities check for themselves? It's pretty much common sense as to what is not going to allow you to get a permit like this.

the more comfortable people get carrying guns, the more comfortable they will be shooting them, i say more guns=more problems
No... Ignorant, irresponsible assholes cause problems... aka the media.

I swear, if the media would stop reporting things like this and talking about them like crazy just for a few more watchers, we would have alot less issues.

Everyone wants to be famous, thanks FOX, CBS, NBC for putting these creeps on TV so all their friends can see how "gangster" they were in wiping out a bunch of innocent people.

F*ck off.
