Is your school having an empty holster protest?

its a proven fact that the people who apply for ccw permits are doing so to defend themselves in the unlikely event of an attack. I myself carry a glock 27 chambered in .40 cal no matter where i go, been carring it now for 4 years and thank god i haven't had to use it

I thought you were perma-banned....

we should be allowed to bring weapons if we are of legal age to do so (anywhere- public property). But since half the world is a bunch of ****ing nutjobs, the security would have no chance.

That is why you can't have weapons. I'd like one, but I understand why I can't have one.

Another note - Many states that ban students from carrying on campus only ban the students. Visitors can legally carry there. For example, I can't carry on my campus because I am a student here. If I wasn't a student and just lived in this town, I could carry on campus.

The more gun owning students, the more school shootings.

I'd like to see the data on this. I am thinking very few folks with carry permits are doing the shootings. It just doesn't work that way.

So you would like to go back to the days of the old west. Sorry I hope that we have evolved past that never to return.
I disagree here. You could try to prove this by saying a majority of crime involving guns is cause by people with carry permits, but alas, it is not.

Passing a law that would allow guns on school campuses legally is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. While I'm sure that a lot of people would carry and never use them. There are far too many immature people that would want to pull them out and show off or pull them out as soon as someone said the wrong thing to them. It would be a huge risk to other students and the school staff.
If the school you go to is so bad that you feel like you need to take a gun to feel safe. Instead of rallying to make it legal to carry guns, why not have everyone demand tighter security at your school instead. Random searches and metal detectors at every door?
Because they cost a lot of money. To put metal detectors in every room would cost more than the settlement the VA Tech families received. It would be cheaper to let people get shot up and deal with that later versus the cost of that type of security.

no way at all? You couldn't tackle them? How about airliners, should you be able to carry on there because somebody once jacked an airliner? How about in government buildings. There has to be a line at which you have to put faith in people and the surroundings.
I had no problem at all discussing this with you until this post. You act as though you can only shoot somebody as a defense. If you want to have a serious discussion then leave the extreme, rare examples out of this.
I'd rather not try to tackle someone shooting a gun at me. Although I would be trying to hide. I'd hope someone else would shoot him.

So basically you should always be carrying, because you have no faith in other human beings, welcome to the old west.
No. I do not. Some people find safety in guns. I find safety in trying to not be where the criminals are. The world is not a very safe place. If it was, I wouldn't have a job.

Interesting. Although I do not own a gun and probably won't. I do agree and would rather have someone else with a line of defense other than throwing a book.

As for the cell phones...in some of my classes the students are not allowed to have them. Possession of a cell phone in class results in failure if one is caught with it. If it rings or he hears it vibrate, you fail. Does that put students at risk...I suppose, but he makes the rules, you don't have to take him.

the right to bear arms is a constitutional right people. i don't know how many americans still know what their rights are today, but i know mine. and i want to keep them. i would vote yes on this if it ever came my way.
