Is this sub toast?

I bought a Type-E 12 from someone, came in a box. I got it today in the mail, and i heard loud rattling in the box, so I took it out and the magnet was off. It stuck back on and won't come off now, but when I tried to hook it up to my computer's subwoofer amp, I barely get a very faint sound from it. Is it blown? He said it was working fine when I bought it.

Well the magnet wasn't on the sub, it was rolling around in the box, while the speaker was mounted. It's not powered from the computer it's a separate speaker system that powers two bookshelves pretty loud.

your answer is probably right there. hook it up to a CAR amp and see if it works.

that sub was damaged in shipping at best. GET YOUR MONEY BACK and have the seller file a claim. It sounds like it was poorly packed if the magnet was rolling around in the box anyway.

After like rotating the magnet around a bit it's a little louder now, but still sounds like shit. Maybe it's just the magnet? I don't really know about speakers.

The magnet is not detatchable, give us a picture of what you are talking about.

The magnet would not just reatatch, especially on a uniframe like the E's use.

Do you think I put the magnet on backwards? It won't come off, it'll pull a little bit when I try to remove it, but that's it.

This is it with the magnet off. It seems with the magnet on the cone won't move much, it's really rough like it's stuck, until I take it off it moves freely.
