is this sub good

so i picked up 1500 Series

the dd 1512a 2ohms

never really got to play it loud since i dont wanna fry it..or at least wanna break it in

anyone know how long i need to break it in?

and also should i wire it down to 1 ohm on the cab1600 or leave it at 2 ohms?

and should i pick up this box

since right now the box im using is a pre fab that pretty much just fits the sub and has a small port one of those universal box that you can pick up from bestuy.. would i hear a big difference with that box loud/sq? or should i get another box?

Have a custom one built or get a design and build it yourself. Never look at amazon, ebay or bestbuy boxes again. Anything pre made just translates to horrible results also that sub doesnt match well with your setup. Should have gotten a redline 700 series 12 instead

No don't get that box. The size is good but a 43Hz tuning is way to high. Try and find one tuned low to mid 30's

another question for my direct leads anyone have a video on how to wire them..for now i just twined them together and electric taped it for now.. do i need 10 gauge speaker wire and shrink wrap etc? anyone have a video or some sort or a walkthrough?

You cannot wire 1 sub to either 2 or 1 ohms, it does not work like that.

What is the VC setup on that sub?

Your choices will normally be either 4 or 1 ohms

I'd go with a 3512 if you want it from that line. Thats basically the base starting line for DD's standard line IMO.

The redline 700 series is much better for your setup because its a 3 inch voice coil. Heck even the 600 series is a bit better with a 2.5 inch voice coil.

Vc stands for voice coil. A dual 2 ohm coil can be wired to 1 ohm by wiring parallel, or can be wired to 4 ohms by wiring in series. Definitely try to get a custom ported box for that sub and you will be very impressed

as far as my sub im just liking the fact that i have a dd compared to my old power akosutik but no one is really telling me that its better so far.. lol someone give me some reassurance that i dropped 300 on the dd and its better than my old power akoustik lol please.

Yes the DD is miles better than the power acoustik. On DD's website they have a box chart. I've never gone wrong following there recommendations.

DD partnered with Atrend and sells boxes for DD subs. The dealer should be able to get those boxes. They are not a bad route if you cannot find a builder

Nevermind, looks like that box is tuned way high. They have another non spl box
