Is this a simple speaker repair ?

One of the two wires on my MB Quart QM160 pulled loose.

Is this a simple repair - and if so -- could I get some direction or advice

on how to go about fixing or how to re-attach it ?

Yes simple just resolder the tinsel lead back to the terminal

Forgive my ignorance, but it appears the wire that is loose is already soldered to the terminal, it's the OTHER end that needs to be connected. That connection point looks like it's at the base on the speaker cone, just opposite the existing wire.

Do I remove the glue that is holding the cone, and then find another terminal underneath the cone at the circular base at the bottom of the cone ?

Sorry I am so inept at this ... not really familiar with the guts of a speaker..... thanks !

Just ditch the glue and solder the wire directly to the metal terminal

That's connected to the VC not the terminal.

either extreme precise soldering or the speaker's gone. Even if you fix it, eventually it'll fail again.

On a re-cone job that is part of the repair. Do you see any wire protruding where it came off? Since you are from the Bay Area I can recommend this outfit Orange County Speaker Repair although there is another guy here in San Jose by the GE Plant Mall near Home Depot but couldn't remember his shop name, I think it's Sound Goods that repairs auto audio to pro audio he's in Craigslist.

A break at the cone/coil lead is difficult or impossible to repair. I'd suggest that woofer isn't worth the cost of the softparts to rebuild either. Hate to be the bearer of bad news here.

Thats the sorta subs sold on ebay...they are patched long enough to get good feedback and fail for the buyer shortly afterward....
