Iphone questions

I just got mine this last weekend and haven't really put it done sense. It being my first smart phone I never realized how handy having the Internet and full keyboard really could be. All this as I post from it right now. And I've heard mixed reviews on jailbraking, it voids your warenty and eventually the novelty wears off. I don't forsee myself jailbraking mine.

Can I ask a stupid question?

What is "jailbreaking"

I have the 2nd gen 3G Iphone.

the only positive feature i can see is the realistic web browsing. Personally i have never really liked it. Apple always tries to squeeze all the money they can out of you once you have it, and judging from all the people i know with one they always have some sort of problem. There are a whole slew of phones out right now that do the same/ better than what the iphone does.
Leave it to someone who has no personal experience eith this item (other that what his friends tell him, lol) to post up something they know nothing about.

Jailbreaking isn't really a novelty. It opens up your phone so you can do things Apple has locked out. I've got a low jack on my phone that comes in handy. Also being able to shoot video on my phone as well as being able to view flash files on the internet has it's advantages to non-jailbroken phones. From what I've heard about the warranty for the phone and the iPod is that you're pretty much SOL anyways so why not make it a more functional device?

I'm waiting until my manufacturers warranty is up to jailbreak mine. I got it the day it came out (July 11 for the 3g). I'm actually on my third one, as I've had minor issues and the Apple store just swaps it out if it's a manufacturers defect. Btw, pricing is $199 for 8gb and $299 for 16gb to all the tards complaining about a $400 phone. Also, the AT&T store was selling refurbs for $100 off a while back, but idk if that is still going. I'm going to wait and see if they release a new one, as the rumors are saying it's going to be another June/July release. I have some problems with my current phone so I will probably swap it out one more time, buy the new one, then sell my brand new 3G 16gb to recoup some of the cost of the new one. Can't wait!!

There really shouldn't be any fear in jailbreaking as long as you don't change the startup logo. I've had mine jailbroken since November without any issues. As soon as 3.0 comes along I'll really see no need to have it jailbroken anymore.

Will the 3.0 software also have video capture capability?

Yeah Quikpwn and there was a decent tutorial on youtube that I watched.
Quick Pwn, winpawn, Just you tube iphone jailbraking I have had my Iphone jail broken for 3 years now, I'v rejail broken it 5 times no problem....the 3g's are alittle bit tricker but it does work...Iphones do not have video viewing apps you have to get it from cydia

Btw if you upgraded you 3g to the new version in the past 3 months don't even bother jail braking. It will just lock up your phone and you have will have to pay a big *** fee, Apple just put this in to stop jailbrakers from not using at&t service and going with another carrier

Apple needs to get there shit togather and make a real MMS app not this swirly MMS shit
