Computer fan constantly running.......How to get it to stop?

the whole point of the fan is to be running constantly, how fast it moves depends on how hot your computer is, make sure that there isn't anything restricting airflow and it might be fine

get a 2" paint brush. like the cheap $1 ones they sell at home depot.

take the computer outside, and remove the case side panek, just brush off the dust that is caked in around the heat sink and all around the computer.

cans of duster are bullshit and are a big waste of money unless if you're huffing the stuff.

use a brush, you will get much better results and it won't cause any damage.

I just use my air compressor from the shop with one of those blower nozzles.
If its a stock Heatsink you can reapply the TIM(Thermal paste with some better stuff) I also have a Zalman 9700 Heatsink if your interested in just replacing it. You can go into your Bios and set the fan rpm speed up after a certain temp, You can raise it 10C so it won't turn on.

All of this asuming your talking about the Cpu fan right??
