just wondering what the advantages/ disadvantages of inverting my subwoofer would be...

it would be easier for me to mount it inverted and my HU has an option to set for an inverted sub

as far as i know, there is no other advantage other than "saving" space. if you have a subwoofer that is optimized at .3 cubic feet, that is hardly enough space to put a subwoofer in, so you can invert it, and it'll work perfectly fine.
