yes sire ...2.8 with 300 hp..??
edelbrock making a 2.8?yes sire ...
how do i know.
edelbrock did up a mid 80's 2.8 ( they did it to make upgrades for this engine ) and they were getting a little over 300hp at crank.
i talked to them about it and they told me what they did to it.
so i picked up there parts and rebuilt this engine 30 over,, racing pistons,, hp cam,, ported/polished heads,, stiffer springs,,roller rocker arms,, ect....

They are fwd and thats the only down fall to them.Never was a fan of how they look and aren't they FWD?
but dropping an lsx into an old ford pickup would be so sweet for the diehard ford fans
Whats wrong with fwd??!?!They are fwd and thats the only down fall to them.
Launching in a drag race makes a big difference on the outcome of the race and FWD has a big disadvantage when it comes to launching.Whats wrong with fwd??!?!
Only difference FWD people have then RWD is that the RWD cars come stock with more torque power..
But after take off it means nothing anymore.. Unless you got AWD.
know they have/had the intake with interchangeable tops (2 and 4)....can see 200hp ,but 300hp na 2.8 that is actually usable in a heavy blazer, would be interesting for sure..
I have AWD and prefer AWD, but if I cant have that, I'll take RWD over FWD any day. RWD drives better imoWhats wrong with fwd??!?!

+1. Ever try to launch a big power FWD? Its not a good thing. Or come into a turn and have to brake hardLaunching in a drag race makes a big difference on the outcome of the race and FWD has a big disadvantage when it comes to launching.
im pushing 300whp and its a pain to launch it but turns i dont have a problem with at allI have AWD and prefer AWD, but if I cant have that, I'll take RWD over FWD any day. RWD drives better imo

Ive never had an issue other then cv joints and tie rods busting.. Also in high torque accelerations my galant would jerk hard to the left.I have AWD and prefer AWD, but if I cant have that, I'll take RWD over FWD any day. RWD drives better imo

gotta love them 700r4 *****...biggest pos od ever made by gm...though with the first in the ***** with 4.11,bet it gets out hole like no tomorrow...they made more parts then that. i know i have them all.
just adding the parts no you will not get to 300hp but......
over boring the block,, light waight pistons,, good hp cam,, roller rockers,, dual chain,, port/polish heads,, modded tbi,, hotter spark.. ect.. ect ya you can get right around 300hp from a 2.8.
and your right my trany/ rear is the weak link now and i dont hot rod it. just like doing burnouts well use to. not with the tires i have on it now.
but anyway i have never had it dino'ed but remember that about 300hp is at the flywheel not to the ground. im getting like 250-270 to the wheels.
and i talked to edlebrock about 9 years ago when they carried all the parts and was into this engine. and they told me there dyno'ed 2.8 was putting out about 300hp. and they told me what there shop did to the engine. so i just copied what they did.
its a fun truck and im running 4.11 gears with an overdrive trany . but the trany is starting to act up and its from me doing burnouts. o well......
