Im choosing the AQhdc3 18 over the FiQ 18

My buddy temporarily had 2 12" L7s in a prefab ported box off his KX1200.1.
I was not impressed, whatsoever. His R's in a prefab were MUCH, MUCH louder.

L7's were a lot cleaner though.

I hope for hype's sake that L7's improve 300% with a proper box.
L7's are VERY box dependant

The Aq will sound just as good as the Fi if not better. The Design and build of your enclosure will be the biggest detrmining factor of how it sounds. The Aq requires a break in period before slamming on the low stuff, to avoid any potential motor noise. If you plan on using an 18 and 2200 watt amp I doubt your main concern is SQ:laugh: I bet your looking to get loud and maintain some listenable amount of clarity;) Aq will fit what your looking for, I have a pair of the AQ HD 12's and they play amazingly well in the 30-35 hz range. Very full clear bass and not a hint of any motor noise. I am running the pair on Mmats 2200.1 and they seem to want more power. Aq has a awesome product and some of the best service i have ever see.
There's a man speaking from ACTUAL experience. Nice to see in this mix of "armchair subwoofer quarterbacks" on here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I agree 100% on the AQ's. Break them in for 8-10 hours so the spiders seat properly is what I was told by DJ. Mine have 4 hours and counting.

So far at medium volumes on ALL kinds of music they sound as good as the HD's I had and the Q in the GF's car. It's all about the box/tuning, and xover/EQ settings, plus a decent front stage.

As I said earlier I'd more base the decision on the power you want to run as both will sound good, just the AQ will get louder if you have more power to throw at it...

anywayscan someone describe to me JUST HOW loud the FiQ 18 would get...

from outside
Tuning the box lower say 32-35 hz will get very loud outside the vehicle and tends to be heard from farther way. For example my 4 15 box in my Tahoe is tuned to 36hz and i have been told it could be heard a couple of minutes before I actually arrive. The same system is capable of setting off the glass break sensors of store security systems. The point is lower tuning moves more air, and will be heard from farther away.

To the OP this might help your decision. Just exactly what kind of music do you listen to?

I hear guys talk about the SQ of a sub and all they listen to is knew rap that sounds like *** on ANY sub.

I've listend to blues, jazz, rock, metal, classical, you name it other then country and the AQ's play it all very well as does the Q. And the Q will get respectably loud, but the AQ with enough power will get much louder and have way more impact.

I've had guys complain about my system not sounding loud enough because the bass is so clean, even at full volume...

How about you buy the FI Q and Compare it to your friends Hdc3 and if you like the aq better sell the Q and buy The Hdc3 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
