Im choosing the AQhdc3 18 over the FiQ 18

And I am not saying that the Aq is sq based in any way just that it has the potential to get louder and sound just as good how can you go wrong with that.

It is all a matter of opinion and there is going to be to many different ones here because both are very good woofers you will more than likely be happy either way.

dude you first have to make up your mind what you want and forget what your friends want if you want SQ I would say go with FI. But if you want SQL which would be getting loud with out sounding like baby farts buy the hd3 and put it in a good box it will sound just as good and get louder.
SQL

yea still leanin on the hdc3

$350 with bp power...

Then it sounds like your not really going for sound quality. With the BP your sacrificing sound quality for power handling, then your putting it in a ported box, where again your sacrificing sound quality for output.

I would like to get the Fi Q18 (not BP) in a large SEALED box. This would achive better sound quality, but obviously wouldn't get as loud as your BP ported.

Copied from mlstrass on the another thread about the BP option;

This is a quote from Scott on the SSA forum about the Q with BP option:
"There is a little spec change on the drivers as we are adding a little more suspension stiffness (although we are swapping stiff spiders out for more soft ones too). The subs stay a little closer to their original suspension values and have a slightly increased qts, fs, and reduced vas. Not too much of an issue and I have found it to be beneficial in most bassrace setups.

Now this is not something for everyone and I dont think that most people need to add it. But we are getting more and more bassrace applications where being able to stack more power to ge the sub to its linear limits for a specific application requires more than the rated RMS power (often quite a bit more) and this option allows you to push things a little harder for some applications. If you are looking for a SQ setup or just a clean daily setup within the normal limits of the subs... then there is no point.

Would I recommend it to someone with 1200W in a daily driver? I doubt it as it really wouldnt be needed and the extra 200W really isnt an issue. Its the guys that are trying to stack on 1800W and push them as hard as possible for 30 seconds (or try to all day) while voltage starts to drop and things start to get ugly towards the end."

Makes me wonder why guys are getting the BP option for a daily driver....

Just Buy A **** Sub, It's Not That Hard.

If You You're Worried About How Every Little Note Sounds Then Get The Q.

If You Want Something That Is Louder And Will Sacrifice Some Sq (hdc3's Don't Sound Too Bad) Get The Hdc3.

End

See your not really looking for SQ man, you want loudeness, but you dont want rattling, panels falling off, and other annoying noises. They are both high end subs and both will get loud and be pretty clear. What you really need is some type of sound deadener, that will make it clean sounding because the FI Q will sound bad too because it still causes vibrations. The AQ will obviously cause more vibrations because you will be getting louder, so its all in the sound deadener.

oh and by the way if you dont want suspension noise, just break the HDC3 in correctly, it comes with instructions.

Cause hearing how HDC3s like higher tuned boxes just turns me off
