If you could only have 1 8" sub...

I know the 8" sub topic has been hammered to death...

BUT, what 8" sub would you choose if you could install ONLY one in your car?

Looking at a sealed install at this point. Not much room at all... I may be able to get ~1ft^3 MAX!

So far, I am looking at:

8w7, TC-1000, RL-i

Money is not really a problem... I MUST have nice SQ, but I love to play it loud - not looking to win any competitions, but would like to turn heads from my single 8" setup.

Thanks!

You want to turn heads with an 8" sealed? Try filling the box with dynamite and setting it off near a large crowd.

Now if you just want to maximize output with an 8" sealed, get the one that has the most linear displacement potential (probably the w7). But no, it wont be making much head-turning sound outside the vehicle.

Have you considered infinite baffle through your roof? That would turn heads.

I am not sure if I have the space to go ported... it may be possible.

Obviously an 8" is not going to be ground pounding outside of the vehicle. I really don't need that. My setup is for me not for the people outside... Thanks for the concern.

But when in the car, I want the setup to sound larger than a single 8" (as I have heard the 8w7 gives that exact impression).

Any other suggestions?

this is from soundsplinter.com for the soundsplinter rl-i8

Acceptable:

0.2 - 0.65 cu ft net volume sealed

0.25 - 0.65 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 25 - 35 Hz

Optimal Home:

0.45 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 25 Hz

Optimal Car:

0.5 cu ft net volume sealed

0.3 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 35 Hz

0.3 cu ft net volume vented, Fb = 35 Hz
That looks like a typo to me that it would need less space vented than sealed.

But regardless if you have a cube you won't have a problem porting most 8's, W7 is a good choice if money isn't an object, people will say all they want but very few drivers are as good as it is.

Going bigger than 8" is out of the question.

Comparing speaker to speaker, is there anything that exceeds the 8w7 as far as clean loud bass? I have seen many that put down the w7 and say go with 2 1508's, etc. However, comparing sub to sub, the w7 will still get louder and sound cleaner than most... correct?

My enclosure will be an asymmetric shape, but resembling a rectangular cube. The only place for a port would be on the same "face" as the sub will be mounted to...
