If an Sub's Impentenace is 4 OHM...

yea it shouldnt affect the sound except i know there are certain companys that will call the dual 2ohm SPL and the dual 4 ohm SQ/SQL. Im not sure why but they do. Maybe theres a slight difference in sensitivity but ive never bothered to look into to it.

Ok So if my subs are 4 OHM my amp would do fine powering them at 2 OHM?

As long as your amp is stable at 2 ohms. What kind of subs and what amp do you have?

The lower you run the impedance, the higher your output from the amp, but the amp has to be stable at the impedance level you run it. You don't want to run an amp at 1 ohm if it's only stable at 2 ohms, for example.

I've got two Sony XSL1290P5s. But I don't have an amp yeat was just wondering for an future reference. Discovered this Lanzar 2-Channel amp that pushes 500 RMS at 4 OHMs a piece. So I'll probably get it and not have to worry about using an amp at 2 OHMs.

Not sure of the specs on those subs, but you definitely don't want to go beyond the RMS rating for those. They're not known to last too long.

I'd also do some searches for independent bench tests on that Lanzer amp.

Your sub is the factor in your impedance... You must have a sub that can create a 2 ohm load. This is the amount of resistance, "usually" lower resistance higher means more power. Just because an amp can run at a 2 ohms doesn't mean it always does/can.
