ssacket is gonna have a black friday sale on a ton of stuff tomorrow, im sure hed have parts to build ya a new subI am going to use a old 10" L7 motor. and get a round basket. what is some good cheap stuff? Cones, basket, Coil.
I would use the square cone but I need a spider!!!
Sorry for the dubl poast, but he didn't include everything that you need to do. Remember, for tutorials and everything, google is your best friend. You know, ngsm showed pics of what he was doing, but tutorials include stuff like removing old surrounds, spiders, and glue by soaking them in acetone and using a wire brush. Stuff like making sure the motor gap is clean of ALL debris, etc. Just google.
I have built many things, most don't turn out the best the first time, but What fun would it be if it was so easy. I think building a sub would be fun, the hunt for parts, the puting it together only to take it back apart and hunt down a difernt part. then in the End I will have a Sub that I built myself.I don't mean to single anyone out so nobody get offended but I'm starting to notice this trend of people attempting to put together subs on their own around here. Unless you really understand exactly what it is your trying to accomplish as far as frequency response within your intended applications I can't see where putting something together yourself is beneficial. Unless you know what parts effect each T/S parameter and can measure your subs once your gone your just taking a crap shoot in the dark with parts that fit together and it's not really much cheaper to build stuff yourself either in some cases. Even if it is in some cases the end result isn't going to be as good unless you know what your doing from a engineering perspective. A speaker is alot like a car, you can't just take the best of each part to make the best car. It's how parts work together that is important and comprises for an overall goal have to be made.
