I am opening a Car Audio store in Austin, TX, need some input on brands

One thing to consider with the higher end brands; A lot of people who know those brands and so forth also know what they're worth, and also where to get them a lot cheaper than retail (here in the CA buy/sell section, for example).

You'll get the ones that are simply stupid and want something loud and expensive, but a lot of educated audio-shoppers may not want to buy those things brand new and at retail price.

donno if anyones mentioned it, but you should consider boston acoustics and arc audio. both are great equipment and cover a good price range in their stuff.

What about Diamond Audio? I know that there is one dealer there in Austin, Alpha Audio, according to Diamonds dealer finder site. When I called them looking for a particular product, they did not carry it and when I asked if they could get me one, I was told flat out no. Just one more brand that no one has mentioned yet.

I will definitely look into Diamond also, thanks. I just hope my list doesn't get really small from protected product LOL

sounds like you have agood list going, most everything I was going to mention was either mentioned previously or you had it on the list...Good Luck with the shop!

Thanks for the good wishes. My list is big and will definitely be trimmed quite a bit. I do look forward to selling quality products.

Definitely find employees with prior knowledge, even of brands you don't carry. My local shop carries Memphis, Kicker, Alpine, etc. I mentioned my ZX350 and the one installer said "that is a sick amp, I had a ZX450 that I beat the crap out of and it still worked. Great amps". I buy m boxes ans small accessories I don't feel like waiting on shipping to get. I've never heard anything in my equipment bashed, and we had a pretty good discussion of pre-outs and gains on the mid Alpine HU's, as mentioned earlier.

Remote starts are my local shop's biggest installed item. A lot of people who go there are like us, they want to do it themselves. They still do a LOT of HU installs, but very little speaker or amp set up's. Something to consider.
