I have a cd7000 that ive had for a while on 3 or 4 previous amps with no problems at all. I have it in a new car right now and everything seemed to be working fine until I got around to installing an amplifier. I’ve narrowed the problem down to the headunit because when I plug an ipod directly into the amp everything performs like it should. But when the headunit is sending the signal to the amp it seems very very weak. For example, the only way to really see the subs begin to visibly move is by turning the gain all the way up (amp is a phoenix gold x600.1 and subs are JBL gto804).
At first I thought that maybe the RCA outputs had gone bad, but after realizing that all three sets of RCA outputs have the same problem I can’t help but think that the problem might be a setting on the headunit that I'm overlooking? The only reason I had doubted that is because I’ve been using the headunit (actively) successfully for so long now so I would have thought that there is no such setting that I am unfamiliar with. I know that a lot of headunits have a subwoofer level control that could be the cause, but I don’t think that the cd7000 has something like that?
Is there any way i can test the RCA outputs to make sure they are indeed working properly? Any advice at all is much appreciated. This ***** because i really can't afford to buy a new headunit:crap:
