I dont believe this has been discussed, but if i wanted to throw 15-17volts to my amp(s) could i run them in series WITH my batt under the hood? or would that possibly fuc up my whole electrical system, sending the 15-17 volts to the whole car?

I was thinking somethin around the lines of---

would that maybe work? i know it wouldnt be around the 17volts, but say there were maybe 4 batts instead of two. Thanks for your input guys

In my opinion, this is not safe.

You need to isolate the amp power circuit from your cars. If you juice your car with 15-17 volts, bulbs will start to blow, ECM don't like it, fuses, relays, etc. are all at risk.

Harrison Labs makes an isolating charger for your sound system power. It hooks up to stock 12V system and can charge up to 18 volts I believe. I think they call it a batcap, or something like that.

This will give you an idea of how to do it. I am not endorsing this, as I have never used it. But, the information on the page is useful and shows how to accomplish what you are trying to do safely.

I know that some offroad trucks run a 24 volt system, but i dont know how they do it, or really why. i believe its for winches and hydraulics and such. i saw it on an episode of TRUCKS once, and they converted everything over to 24 volts.

dont know if that helps at all, but higher voltage systems are out there..

Exactly, the winches n other extra goodies.

like i said, to up the voltage to my amps. my amps put out rated 3600 @ 17volts, and a lot less @ 14.4 (i think about half that much)
i suggest get new amp(s) (mojo-2500d) so you dont end up blowin you sh_t up
