What specs can i look at of a sub to see if its potentially a loud sub, without hearing the sub play or hearing from a friend that its "loud"? What on the spec sheet suggest's that a 15"xxx is louder than a 15"alpine?

Do not look at the sensitivity of the sub, ever. That is a worthless spec that honestly can tell you nothing. You don't know by what method it was taken. And even if you do, its based on low power, different subs react different ways to increased power.

Its really hard to look at T/S and know which sub is louder than another. Higher xmax can lend to more output, but when we look at the stroker, its limited in excursion but acheives high SPL. The only true way to determine which speaker is louder is to test them.

T/S can only help you in designing a box -- they won't always determine the outcome.

subs with quad stack magnets & pink butyl surrounds are teh loudest //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

ones whos name that start with the letter F and the second word is "pups" are teh loudest ever. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tomatoface.gif.6507032fedd1868ec0a6a447bb29a18a.gif

most of the motors strength comes from the first magnet slug anyways... diameter of the magnet is a larger factor than how many are stacked on each other
Hmmm. Interesting...Thanks for the input everyone //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/silly.gif.3549b64aaa5b6729eb8e865319a3234f.gif

Depends on if you are referring to loud: 1) At one frequency in bass farting, 2)Loud at low frequencies, or 3) Louder across the driver's usable bandwidth.

1) Look for high BL/Qes

2) Look for LOW BL/Qes and/or Fs

3) Look for high displacement (Xmax and Sd)

BL will do NOTHING as far as being loud across the driver's usable bandwidth, and high BL will REDUCE low frequency output.
