nothing has impeded human progress, exploited oppressed or killed other humans more than christianity. you are blind.
every religion says there is but one, or one set, of true god(s), what makes christianity correct?

very few documents actually contradict themselves more or as often as the bible, which, by the way was written by people, not god. more importantly these are people who condemned and killed others for not believing in what they wrote. (hmm, if we cant control people by just killing them, why dont we brain wash them into believeing if the dont give us their money and become our part time slaves, they will go somewhere worse than death....hm...lets call it hell"

i jsut don't agree that the nicest person or greatest benefactopr to human society could be sent to eternal ****ation for privately being atheist, and that for centuries your religion has manipulated idiots into killing such people to send them there quicker?

i contend that we are both atheists, i just believe in one fewer god than you do. when you understand why you discredit all other gods, you will understand why i discredit yours

You need to read back further. Anyway, I know, chrisitanity is a joke. And it is NOT what the bible is talking about. Blame Constantine for that nonsense.

The bible teaches you to do nothing other than to obey God's laws, which are laid out in the scripture, and believe in HIM. That's it, plain and simple.

It doesn't tell you to be Methodist, Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian, etc. Blame the ignorant for all the wars, oh, and blame the Pope too. IMO he's a dumb-***.

It wasn't written by God huh? Hmmm. Your right. Name anything on earth past or present that was. The Lord uses people to carry out His will lots of times. Look at the story of Moses and the Exodus, and many other stories in the bible. And he used his chosen people to write the scriptures.

And rather you believe an atheist will be sent to hell to burn forever or not, it won't stop it from happening. And lets not stop at atheist...Muslim, Budhist, etc, the list goes on and on. Believe it or not, that's up to you.

And as far as people being killed because of our 'religion' to make people go to hell faster...lol. Brother, if someone is part of a religion then they're not totally on the right track. Following commandments is not a 'religion', it's a duty. And don't attribute some lunatics in the past killing people for not converting to me and my brethren that follow Jesus. Many people that did that in the past were not commanded by the Lord to do that, neither were they moved by the spirit to do that. They found it disrespectful and took matters into their own hands. So again, please don't attribute such things to me and my brethren.

But at the same time, in the OT the Lord did command the Hebrews to kill quite a few people. Including animals and children. He loves and he hates, deal with it.

The sooner people will read for themselves to understand how God handles things, and that he's not some soft God that loves everyone, that he doesn't tolerate noncompliance, he's not just a God of love he's a God of war, and when he returns he's not comming back to hand out lolly-pops and say oh i've always loved you, the sooner people will quit getting their feelings hurt or say that the scripture contradicts itself when they find out that God is not how their favorite pastor described Him. He's coming back for blood shed, not peace, but on the same note, he will establish peace afterward.

You guys are killing me. This debate will go on forever as well as finding the real answers. You will be waiting forever. Stop talking like you have experienced the Truth. And saying things like it "doesn't matter what you believe" "It will still happen" etc. Infact it does matter what you believe. It matters what everyone believes. It's your belief that determines your reality. You can sit there and say that because you are not saved you will burn in Hell but without your Belief, you have nothing. You have never experienced anybody being judged, and then sent to hell and you never will. Belief is all you, me and everyone of us have regarding this matter.

I for one, don't believe that. Others may. The bottom line is that if you believe in GOD alone, without accepting Jesus, you ARE going to HELL! Muslims, for instance, believe in an almighty god and they even acknowledge part of the bible. However, they don't accept Christ. This, my friends, isn't good. I mean, I don't know how to be any bolder. If you don't believe in Christ and accept him, then you ARE going to HELL!
