Yea, everyone have their own beliefs. And Tommy, i feel what you are talking about. I hate when people try to shove it down your throat. If i want to believe, then thats up to me. It can not be forced down your throat....But you still my caraudio bro....As i said, no hard feelings about this topic

I wasn't intending to offend you Tommy. Your (and everyone elses) beliefs are your right and i respect that. As i clearly stated in my first post. I was just contributing to the topic.
Sorry, about that. I was hating on you either.

I was trying to post relevant and interesting info just to TRY and keep this thread respectable. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/clap.gif.178cba2c538c68e720c727fcb024b19c.gif

It really breaks my heart that you people feel that way.again, there is only so much I can do.

I am going to pray tonight for GOD to show each of you something.

I know GOD will do something for each of you.

I am not trying to tempt GOD but I do believe HE will reveal himself to each of you in an amazing way.

I just hope it won't be too late for any of you.
Pray for me and Debbie hooking up tomorrow. If it dont happen, then there is no god.

I guess you could say that I'm "reverse" saved; Was raised catholic, went to catholic elementary school, etc.....grew up, learned to think for myself and turned atheist //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

My thoughts on religion are captured in the first quote in my sig down below.

well catholicism(sp) isnt really the same thing as christianity......but i can understand your anti church feelings w/ having relgion forced down your throat....i on the other hand had the opposite experience.....family didnt raise me w/ any religion.....had to find God on my own.....

well catholicism(sp) isnt really the same thing as christianity......
Sorry, it's 3am here, so I scramble my words some (you should hear me try to talk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ). But yes, my christianity went "out the window" along with the catholicism.

If so, you do know that catholicism isn't about Christianity?

Umm...care to elaborate on these statements? Thats probably the most ignorant thing ive ever heard come out of a 'Christian's' mouth. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

As far as religion goes, I would consider myself very 'spiritual'. I believe in Jesus, Mary, Mohammud, etc. I believe that all religions are relevant to a person's spirituality because all religions teach us something about OURSELVES. You dont practice a religion to save others, you do it to salvate yourself, to better your own life. I get so disgusted when I talk to so-called Christians who dismiss other peoples beliefs just for the simple fact that they dont believe Jesus is the one and only way to personal salvation. Who the hell are you to tell a buddhist monk [etc] that lives a better life than you that he is going to hell just because he doesnt repent to Jesus? Do you realize that the Bible has been translated so many times that its not the same Bible you think it is? Do you agree that the Bible was written by MAN, not GOD himself? All it is is a book of stories to guide yourself by, not words writen in stone. The same goes for other religious books.

Bottom line, live your life how you see fit. Do things for yourself. If someone else doesnt believe in the same things as you, praise them for it...worry about yourself! We live in a world today where there are so many different types of people so be happy about that and educate yourself. Dont make blind statements such as the quotes I put above. Thats purely ignorant and untrue.

Dictionary.com:

Catholicism:

The faith, doctrine, system, and practice of a Catholic church, especially the Roman Catholic Church.

Christianity:

The Christian religion, founded on the life and teachings of Jesus.

You can have christianity (believing in the Bible, Jesus, God, whatever) without catholicism (the institution of the Church). Not everyone who believes in and follows God/Jesus attend church and such as their beliefs may not fall within a certain sect.

Dont make blind statements such as the quotes I put above. Thats purely ignorant and untrue.
Read above. Now, who's statements are ignorant again??

well....the catholic church and christianity are 2 completly diff. religions.....very similar.....but not the same thing

if u look at the teachings of Jesus....no where does he say to pray to different saints.....no where does the word of god say that a "priest" can forgive you of yoru sins.......and so on and so on.........jus several things that match up w/ the Word.....

Catholicism is a sect of Christianity...so therefore, Catholics are Christians, just like Protestants. Just like Sunnis and Shi'as are both Muslims. Catholism is the oldest form of Christianity, the whole reason we have Protestants is because they decided to split from the Catholic sect. Protestant = Protest. Catholics do pray to saints, they do talk to priests, etc, but in no way do they put them above God. The same way Caholics believe in Saints is somewhat the same way that muslims believe in Jesus as a prophet, the same way Christians see Moses as a prophet. Everything works through God, and there are certain people on earth that God works through...even Jesus, God in human form. When a Catholic does reconciliation at church they are going through a medium, a priest. Thats all. There is no god but God.

Catholics believe the same principals as every other Christian denomination...to say that they arent Christians is, well, not Christian.

I guess I'm going to hell then.

My favorite line from the original post "Don't be foolish, life is short" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rotflol.gif.b453361716769b8110ddefc85ff03cd2.gif

First of all I would like to say that catholics are christians, plain and simple! Not the same belief structure exactly, but based off of the same big points.

second:

Religion is a scam for money and power. I believe do what you feel is right and you should live a decent life. Karma usually gets you in the end
Although there MAY be a god, this is in fact the reason why church was made. When I say church I mean religion, and if you've ever taken a european history course, you would know this to be true. Religion was created to do two things: control the people (as a form of government), and to create revenue. Kinda ironic that they teach us not to screw people, and to treat everybody right when their foundations was quite the opposite.

This is one of the areas where different sects see things differently. Some believe that whatever you pray for will come. If it doesn't it's because you don't have faith in god or that you didn't have a big enough group praying with you. I believe all prayers will be answered but that doesn't mean that you will receive a "yes" to all of them.

For those believers in Jesus as the savior, they believe he is the only reason they can get into heaven and therefore other honest incorrect interpretations of the bible won't matter in the end. What it comes down to is that they believe Jesus saved them from their sin.

Two more things:

1. I find it interesting that when some major natural disaster occurs people tend to pray for some higher power to keep them safe or comfort them. But once it is over that's it no more need for a higher power.

2. Tommy, do you still have to go to church? Hopefully at this point you're not forced into it. Someone forcing you into it without you believing isn't going to do any good. If you still have a bible, start reading it on your own, maybe start in the new testament. See what you think of it, without all the church stuff and church leaders telling you what they think of it.

That's the one thing I don't understand about the Islamic extremists. They feel that all people that aren't converted to Islam should be put to death. What good is it to force it on someone? Afterall they don't truly believe they just want their life spared.
