How Many of You Are SAVED?

james, please do not argue religion without an open mind....pointless. You cannot say that the catholic church worshiping demons and satan. You are able to critisize it all you want, but do not make blind statements because your BRANCH of christianity has you believing something...this is called brainwashing. Christianity is a broad term that encompasses everybody who worships jesus (christ) and belives he was the son of god, or even more generally, the savior to the people.
There are different branches to christianity, and it shows complete stupidity to call yourself a "christian" and say catholics are wrong. You belong to a branch, which one I have not yet determined, but the point is that no matter what you say: prodestants, catholics, baptists, they all believe in the same foundational concepts and are only separated by minor changes in beliefs.

Also, to my earlier comment, I didn't say that all churches in the modern day use their practice as a way to create wealth and control governmentally. I stated that church (religion) was created for such a purpose, and therefore shows no real merit. The whole system is flawed in the sense that church was created to keep people controlled and stop them from thinking. There was a european continent on the verge of many revolutions, and the only way to brainwash people was with a story of something they couldn't explain, church did this and in the process took over the role of government. This became the downfall of nations, and is why our founding fathers chose to "separate" the two.

P.S. Don't try to argue this point unless you have a background in european history that extends further than "world history" in high school.

EDIT: you better start being tolerant of other religions...your savior was jewish, I don't think he would approve of you condeming all religions execept your specific branch of christianity. And yes, I'm aware that christianity wasn't around until after the time of chirst, but this makes you wonder what the truth is, or rather how we can get away saying christianity is right when there was religious beliefs before christ arose, and during his time, the jewish religion was "right," at least to jesus. Too many flaws to commit my life to something....if there's an afterlife I will be in heaven because I live my life being respectful to others and being peaceful.

In some ways I have to disagree with you also. Mormons are grouped with Christianity when they do not believe Jesus is their savior. This is part of my problem with the whole grouping thing. I don't believe Mormons should be grouped with christian and the same goes for Jovah's witnesses.

See avatar. Christianity is a fucking club. I can understand a good portion of it, but for the most part it gets a big //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsdown.gif.d22f25895e9b40f2300c953691dacfa2.gif . This thread makes me sad.

Here's my ******* contribution.

Organized religion is for those who are too weak of mind to think for themselves. And any god that would turn a good hearted person away because they didn't go to the right church, or any church for that matter, is not worth hanging out with in heaven anyway. (I don't believe God's that much of a dick)

I'd have to agree with the post before and I have been a christian since I was born (none of the born again stuff). Many of the people who I have attended church with are some of the worst people that I have ever met. Just because you live life with a facade of goodnees and richeousness (spelling?) doesn't mean that you are better than another person.

Christians are the tip of hypocracy because they are the first to judge other's actions when the Bible specifically states that this is a sin and that one human is no better than any other. All humans are sinners therefore we do not have a right to judge one another on the sins we commit, I'm not sure of the exact place and quote that it states this in the Bible but it is repeated over and over and over again.

Throughout my life I grew up attending a Community church, then moved and attended 2 different Methodist churches and have also been to mass with some of my friends. The one thing I do know about my faith after 21 years of being a Christian is that I don't need any other person be it a priest, minister, Republican to tell me what my relationship with God is and how to live my life. I've seen the same scandals that happen elsewhere (cough*Bill Clinton*cough) happen within a large organized church setting. A former minister had to resign for having an affair with the music director and at a different church the youth pastor was asked to leave for acting "inappropriately" with one of the girls in the class.

In conclusion I believe that churches can be a big bunch of crapola. If you really want to be a christian read the bible and pray by yourself. If you believe in the trinity and ask God for forgiveness for your sin he will listen. You don't need a Priest or any other fony Jerry Fallwell person to talk to god. Also if somebody behaves in a manor that isn't part of your morality I.E. ***, drugs, and rock n' roll than don't worry about it, everybody's individual problems are already enough to deal with.

Wow James....simply amazing. You my friend, are a tool. And I don't mean this in an insulting way. You claim to follow the Bible and the Bible is the "Truth" but what you do not realize is that religious truths are subjective. Truth is in the eyes of the beholder so to speak. And for you to Hold one religion above all others is hypocritical. A Muslim, A Jew and a Christian can believe in their Faith just as strongly as one another, pray just as much etc..... yet somehow you can completely disregard their Faith, the same type of Faith you base your beliefs on. Blind faith. You even go as far as saying the others are Satan worshippers. You are very arrogant to even start such a topic the way you did. You are a puppet. I'm looking in from outside the box and your posts are laughable.
You claim the Bible is the Truth yet books have been taken out and verses/words have been changed. Knowing this how can you base your entire life on this so called Holy Book. I'm sure if something besides your religion had so many discepancies you would think twice about it. Why hold Christianity to a different standard? Because it satifies your presuppostion?

By the way you represent yourself I would have guessed are Pentacostal. You sound really young minded though. When were you saved? A lot of young Christians tend to fly off at the mouth the way you so elegantly did //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Actually if he wasn't to hold his belief in jesus as his savior above others beliefs that would make him hypocritical. Afterall if he believes in jesus he probably believes Jesus when he says "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. THe only way to the Father is through me." and the another statement that says "God so loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life." Read John if you want more details. So really if he believed other ways of getting into heaven he would be contradicting his own belief afterall it does say that is the only way to heaven.

That's where the religions twist things. The bible does say that meeting with believers is important but it doesn't say this will get you into heaven. Attending church and giving the church money and giving money to the poor can't get you into heaven. Killing Hitler and getting rid of Saddam isn't going to get you into heaven.

Being a Chrisitian doesn't make you perfect. Everyone sins. But judging an individual and saying what is right and wrong are two different things. We all do wrong. There is no man on earth right now that is perfect. But that doesn't mean that we should accept our wrongs.

Hmm, must be a pretty relaxed church. The one by my house won't let you go to ANYTHING in the church unless you are mormon. Not even guests. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/moon.gif.9d317aec3339ffe7fde0638df52c628a.gif

I'm glad, stay away from the mormon church. I personally feel that they shouldn't be classified as christians.

well i read the 1st 4 pages, and the 9th page. so i didnt get to ready everyones post and hope i do not repeat anything already been stated.

I grew up in the south, the "bible belt" if u will. My parents were fine with church. We went every once in a while and it was never forced on me which I appreciate my parents doing. They wanted me to form my own opinions. However, meeting all these so called "christians" really changes my view on church. Many are so hypocritical it makes me sick. Im not saying every person that attends church is a hypocrit but i have found that many of the ones i have met turned out to be. They think if they can call themselves a christian and attend church, they are automatically a good person and can do whatever they wish and not be looked down upon.

I think church overall is a good thing though. You can meet new people, and all kinds of stuff. However, i beleive a person should live there own life and not have there life be decided by god. A person should look for answers themselves.

I am very open to christianity though. I think it is a very interesting subject that i would like to become more educated on. Id like to sit down and read the bible but i just dont have the time to do that now, maybe later.

I guess what im trying to say is, my life will be led by me and only me.

I am a born-again Christian, I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and I'm proud to admit it. I go to a Baptist church right now, but I'm not really Baptist, I've gone to churches from a lot of different denominations and I can't say I'm really a part of any one of them. I was saved when I was really young, but I didn't really try to live like I should until the summer of 2003.

It saddens me to see so many people who are completely against Christianity, I have my doubts about it too but if what the Bible says is true than I know I'm going to heaven. If you don't follow any religion than you don't have a chance at all, and the way I look at it is better safe than sorry (unless the Bible is completely wrong, but even if it is I've lost nothing by following it, if it's right I've gained eternal salvation).

It saddens me to see people being narrowminded. from the looks of what u said, people who arent christian "dont have a chance at all" What is that supposed to mean? U make it seem that if we dont have the same beliefs as u, we are screwed. i would have to disagree

Not people who don't follow christianity, people who don't follow any religion.

I do not agree with this at all, I believe that if there truly is a god, and an afterlife, as long as you live a fulfilling life and respect your fellow man, you will go to heaven. I don't have any reason to believe that god put us here to worship him and base our entire existence (a great gift) on trying to please him.

i would have to totally agree. I mean, there isnt any rock-solid proof that there is a god so whats wrong with having different opinions on how it all started and how its gonna end
