How important is dsp?

Hello,

Im getting system installed this week and next it consist of the following in a wrangler jeep

3 polk audio 12s

4 polk audio 6.5s

Polk audio 1200 mono amp

Polk audio 800 4 way amp

Ive had two installers tell me the amp crossovers and kenwood d992 head unit will work and no dsp needed but i want to be sure since the amps will be sunk into floor and covered in plexi glass.

If needed is the audiocontrol dqdx any good?

Then why does John Kuthe have a DSP?
Man this question seems to have a million answers. I just want to be positive because once the floor is built the stuff flushed and under plexiglass itll be hatd to add if needed.

I would take Jeff's answer tho.

It's not need, but by choice. Unless you were in a SQ class, then it might be.

Thats same as thing the installers said, only one shop said it was needed. Cant wait to put it in shop saturday. Box design is kinda a cross between these two, plan on having the system and lift done by april 16th as want to enter a show then. .

the one that said its needed, they shouldnt be trusted lol.

you only need a DSP when you actually have tweeters, midbass, midrange and sub which needs proper crossover adjustment and slope and EQ.

right now you just have 4 coaxials and sub which does not need anything other than a head unit in all honesty.

again 4 coaxials is too basic to be making proper use of a dsp.

I got GB10, GB25, GB60 in my F350 powered by two JL XD400-4 amps. Next payday getting my Hertz H8, and 4 JL 8w3 with a JL HD1200-1. That will finish up my nice SQ build.

You think it will finish it up. Give yourself. Few months of tuning, tweaking, tuning, tweaking, hearing reverb, fixing reverb, rise, repeat.

You might find yourself aiming those a bit more off axis. You will have to make big cuts in the higher frequencies.
