how easy is it to get past a 2 way alarm?

ive always wondered this. thieves always find new ways to get past security systems. and with people getting bigger and more expensive systems all the time, they usually want to protect their investment.

a 2 way paging alarm seems to be the best bet. but my question is, is there a way around this alarm? ive heard of thieves stealing frequencies from remote alarms and using that to just open doors without setting off alarms. so i was wondering is there a way for a thief to possible "jam" the signal from a 2 way paging alarm so that you dont get a page and you never know your car was broken into?

just wondering as im looking into better alarms than my stock one right now, and a paging one i think would be bad *** but only if it almost guarantees that i will know when someone ****s with my car.

anyone have any info or experience?

Only time Ive ever seen something fishy with a nice alarm was when Chevyaudio came over for a build day. We found out that his remote would unlock my neighbors car. So I guess it is possible to get around them if you have another remote. Chances are slim, but still there.

Omega has a system that every time you press lock or unlock.. it pull's a diff code.. so no one code is the same.. now as far as installers ( like me) they can program another remote into the system.. and get away clean!!! as long as there are no finger prints... witch if you ask me is shisty and i would never steal....

but other ways would be cutting the - to the vehicles battery.. that way you dont set off any of the car's trigger's causeing the alarm to send a page to the 2 way..

i have noticed on a few car's where this is possible... dodge stratus where the battery is in the drivers fender.. the fender shroud is easily removed and you have access to the batt as long as you dont cause any sock that the shock sensor will catch...

other then this it is fairly hard.. 2 way's are very nice and have saved my truck and my car in about 4 diff situations.

i stopped a hit and run one time in downtown cleveland... i was in the justice building and my 2 way went off i ran outside and someone had hit my truck and was trying to get away...

so i love my 2 ways!

any hints at which alarms use the rolling codes?

seth: ive actually thought about installing it myself. however, if not, i was thinking about having it installed in a different city, no plates on the car either. dont trust very many people these days.

um omega use's the rolling codes... infact im not 100% sure but pretty sure they have a patent on there's....

the alarm is only as good as the install... i would take it to a mom and pa shop.. and have a real. m.e.c.p. installer install's it...

if ur going to take the plates off. might as well cover the vin # and take anything of yours out of the glove box. ect....

also. depending on the range of the transmitter to the unit... someone can brake into you're car without you reciveing the page.......

also people that install alarms are the best thief's.......in theory!!

ive seen a few cars with little antenna looking things...is that a sign of a 2 way alarm in the car?

and if so, is there any way around that so you dont advertise you have one?

fukin theives. Hate those bastards, sit around thinking of new ways to fck people over. If they would take half the brain power they use to figure out how to get around sht, they could make double the money being legit. Lazy pricks.

I have a friend that has a 2-way pager system in his car. Worked well for him twice. LoJack has the same thing. I unexpectedly got LoJack installed in my car at the time of purchase and got the early warning system installed with it. When the car is disturbed, the system calls five phone numbers (your home, your cell, etc) to alert you. But I don't know. LoJack is popular too, and is probably the most common system thieves know how to break into.

Can't really stop them. If they don't steal your car or anything in it, they will sure as heck try.

thats the thing...i know they will try, i just want to know when they try.

but yea, anything that gives me a somewhat of chance to get to the car before anything can happen is what im looking for. and thats why im interested in the 2 ways especially with the rolling code since they might be the toughest to get by

I would recommend the set up like I have:

Separate Audible Alarm System & Separate Paging Alarm System. I have different brands. Both reputable & reliable. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

well that antenna depends on what make/ model the unit is... i mount that " transmitter ant" on the front windshield just below the rear view miror to asure the best reseption possiable. due to the amount of metal there is in the windshield and the roof...

now my omega 2 way on my car has the ant, L.E.D. and valet button all in one.. i like that allot!!!

even tho you might not want to let someone know you have a alarm on the vehicle it's allot better to show it off and not have anyone mess with ur car do to the advertisment, ie: led, this car is protected by... stickers ect....

no advertisment for a alarm will make the rookie's think they can bust a window, grab and go....

id rather have someone notice my alarm, then not notice it, brake a window and run!!! and im left with a broken window.. but still they didnt take anything....

also i have a mercury tilt sensor in my car so that if anyone try's to jack it, take my wheels' ( if i had some) or try to tow my car it will set the alarm of due to a tilt or movment in the mercury sensor..

this is ur best bet!!

the brain!!! hide it.. most of allllllll alarms are installed under drivers dash. yes it's easy for the installer's to install it there... but it's not the best spot.. and can be found in a heart beat!!!

hide the brain, up high, or even on pass side of car.

siren, mount it inside a fender if you can with no wire's showing even a back up siren if possiable.

back up batteries ive never installed one on both my vehicles... maybe because my car's arnt worth takeing. car jacking and being stripped of, but if you have a bmw. ect i would seggest one.

STARTER KILL!!!!

and that's all i can think of right now.

fellow installers feal free to add...
