How do I install for the lowest of the lows?

If I had a 96 impala/caprice, Id definitely run an IB setup. If I was going to run an IB setup, Id definitely run IDMaxes.

The article mentions a drop in the sub 30 region. How much of a loss is there? Can it be overcome? I mean to the point that it will still be able to rumble like I like? How would it be overcome? Another woofer? Larger enclosure? Thicker membrane?

By varying the thickness of the membrane. Work it till you get a response reasonably close to what you are wanting, then work the EQ a little to get your desired response. A little bit of boost on the EQ isn't absolutely horrible.....as long as it's not excessive.
