Hit brakes and sub gets 2x louder

what kind of car is it, if its a honda with eld it could very well be the fact that the alt only really puts out when the brakes are applied.
Whats the story behind that, I would think the alt puts out less since you're lowering the RPM's? And I'm driving an 06' Nissan Altima.

the eld is a stupid system honda uses to increase gas millage, but im not sure if the altima's have a similar system or not.
does it get quieter then you let off the brakes with out getting back in the throttle?
It would get louder for the moment that my car was coming to a hault, then the second I let off the brakes it would get quieter again (with or without throttle). But as I said I moved my box all the way to the front of the trunk and it hasn't done it since. I do know I need a better alternator, I talked to greg at US Amps and he said this amp will pull 240 amps and I have a stock alt. Looked at the fuse between my battery and power wire and It was discolored from heat. Ugh, just dont want to pay for a mechanic to put in the alt since It looks like a biotch to put in myself, plus i've heard an H/O alt can actually cause problems (dont know if this is true or not). And on that note, does anyone know if not having a powerful enough alt can cause an amp to clip?

hmmm, it could have been that knicked spot you said you found in the wire partially grounding out on something, or one of a 100 different things,

just learn from it and move on, always secure the equipment.

as far as a H/O alt causing problems, no, as long as its properly built and properly installed (and isnt putting out a higher voltage than what the vehicle can handle) then there will be no issues.

look into excessive amperage for an alt, one of the best prices i could find for mine,

I just emailed him requesting a quote, how much did yours cost?

H/O alts always are, especially odd sized ones like mine, the couple others i found that would build one wanted close to that for just the alt then tack on shipping and the regulator.
I've never heard of a regulator, whats that for?

an external regulator lets you adjust the output voltage of the alternator between 12.6 and 23 volts (with mine anyway).

the importance/ use of this is that a lot of cars can not operate when the voltage gets too high, my tib starts having issues after 14.8v. also some batteries do not like being held at voltages over 14.6 for extended periods of time, but both can take it for the short time that the car is in the lanes (meca legal at 15v)

it also gives you the ability to later step up to a 14-16-18v system with out having to buy a new alternator,

wouldnt that fry your electrical system? sorry I know nothing about this, just curious
