help installing my first head unit

i bought an eclipse cd3000 locally. Its going into an 01 accord 4 dr. It doesnt have a mounting sleeve, however it has 2 brackets screwed in on each side of the head unit, taking up half of each side. It has all the wiring also, and i dont think it has a template. I have the dash kit and the wiring harness. What else am i going to need? Are the sleeve and template mandatory? Id post pics but i dont have my digi right now. Thanks for any help.

so i dont need it? i really wanna install it tonight. The manual for this ghetto scosche dash kit i have is horrible, a figure is showing me i need a sleeve and a template.

You need the sleeve tard muffin

not necessarily genius

depending on the kit you purchased it should have the option to iso mount (take small 6mm screws and screw the head unit to the dash kit)

well the kit should have come with a couple of square flat pieces that snap into the back sides of the head unit opening that will allow you to screw the unit in

Not all of them screw the unit in. Infact out of the 50+ Headunits ive installed only like 2-3 used the iso with the screws. A majority use the mounting sleeve with the tabs.

depends on the dash kit company allso... i use best kit's... allmoust every one of the kits allows you to iso mount or din mount..... most iso mount's are toyota, mazda, nissan, kia, hyandai ect.. i allways do din mount unless it wont allow it...

Yeah company depends alot on it aswell. We use metra, scosche, and american international. Very few of them are Iso.

i used to love metra.. till i started useing best kit's.. love em..

i just wanna install the **** thing. Theres 2 step 4s in the dash kit manual, 1 saying the mounting sleeve is needed, and the other is the iso mount directions for a shaft stereo? really dont know, this **** dash kit is the only problem. Any suggestions where i could pick up a mounting sleeve? and would it have to be car/stereo specific, cuz my co worker said her boyfriend has some sleeves.

so i had my boy install it for me, piece of cake no sleeve needed. Too bad bmx i thought for a while with 6000 posts you were right, but not needed at all. Maybe bmx is more your thing, you could put a little horn on it, that could hit some mad dbs! thanks for the help fellas
