Have a problem with setup

Yeah Google set amp gain with multimeter it may not be as loud but your subs will last longer. If you can get your hands on an scope you can see exactly when it clips.

Also you didn't state whether or not you're enclosure is ported? If it is what is your subsonic filter set at?

My box is a ported box, it was made for the type R. And I have the filter set at 30hz.

like others have stated on here set the bass boost on the amp to 0. this can cause an amp to clip quickly. I don't agree with the others on here either that sub should be able to handle 1200 watts no problem.

Its basically boosting a certain frequency. Main just causing major distortion in your current setup. Have it completely off and set the gains with a multi-meter, get any 15-20$ multi-meter from walmart, Frys, Sears etc... brand dont matter just get one.

Sub level all the way up, on the head unit, Equalization flat, low pass and high pass filters both at 80hz, bass boost off, loudness off.

on the amp, bass EQ all the way down completely.

I have a 20kw amp here i can tone down to see if it can handle 1000w.

I know it doesn't.. physically impossible based on engineering.
