Has anybody?

im sorry, this i did not know. like i said im more knowledgable about imports. I have heard i think that the american muscle cars do have a little more restriction in the stock form so it will most likely help more.

yea, pvc piping will be nearly the same...honestly, intakes really dont make that much of a ifference. if you get an AEM CAI vs. ingen CAI, if there is a difference of 2 hp, like u are really going to notice it.

American cars intakes matter a lot sometimes. On the bigger displacement engines intakes can vastly change power.

I can telly uo from a professional stand point, and has been proven on my dyno, a home made intake will actually hurt your performance. I had V6 mustangs, Neons, RSX, etc..... come up there and they tried the cheap way out. Its not worth it. they lost 4 MPG and most lost 6 RWHP. If it was possible to make your own and be as good as lets say C&L or K&N, then they wouldn't be in business. On my Mach 1 i actually seen a very nice gian on the K&N setup of 12.3 RWHP. Most cars are lucky to get at the most 6 RWHP. your 4 cylinders will not get much at all, it may help throttle response thats about it. V6 import it helps a little better, and same as domestic, but if you dont have 8 or more cylinders, its best for you to buy a replacement filter thats not foam and you will see about the same increase in power. If you want quaick HP go with a performance chip. DO NOT go with hypertech. Most of the time they will screw your ****** up. Superchips or SCT only way to go.

We are talking about 350cu engines here, not your measely 283. As long as you can make the straightest path and largest path to the intake, you are succesfull. I mean yes, you COULD buy a k&n, but if you are on an audio site asking about modding your car for extreme performance, then i dont think you will really notice the 4-5 more rwhp that extra 2-300$ part had.

Make your own intake, its easy. Just sit and logically think "what is the straightest, widest, smoothest path to the tb"

all my intakes have been home made and proven at tracks to be better... pvc IF built right work better than metal intakes.. why.. pvc doesn't heat up as easy as metal, making the intake stay cooler.. u can also build a shield around the air filter, wrap the pipe in heat wrape.. no need to spend $300 on a brand name intake

Its 281 CID , get it right hehe. And its sad my 281 will spank those 350's . Now ford is going to the 5.4 in the cobra, GM got scared and had to beef up to the 427 because they KNOW what we did with our little 4.6 's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you are so far from smart its hilarious.

Ford did NOT do anything special with the 5.4l. Its a lightning block and GT heads.

Chevy completely redesigned the smallblock and gave 100,000 mile warranty on their 505hp beast that runs 11.7@125 all day, and is 2nd teir only to the Porsche Carrera GT on Nubergring for a stock car.

What impresses me is that they could get this fast without the need of 4 valves, with shorty headers, with cats, no overhead valves, and no forced induction. It doesn't impress me that Ford uses 4 valves, and forced induction and still doesn't get close to the naturally aspirated power of the LS7.

Actually, GM decided that since they kicked so much *** with the C6 Z06, that they will bring out the blue devil, and it supposed to be around late next year. It has already been mentioned many times and is slowly getting more publicity.

I will admit, ford made a good mod-able motor with the 331, but stock vs. stock the Z06 takes the cake in impressiveness. Once we get into modding, then obviously around the upper hp range the cobra will take the win because of the forged internals, but there is a ways before that happens.

The Ls7 mods so well that with LT's AND CATS, it gained 40rwhp and 50rwtq. Thats right there with how the 03 cobras modded. Add some nitrous into the mix, and you have yourself one wicked track car.

And oh, Ill race you with my 231 vs. your 281.

CAI's dont do much unless you have an exhust system or if you get a bigger throttle body. intakes are only as good as the exhaust on the car, for instance, my friend put a K&N CAI into his mustang, absolutely no difference, then he put 2-3/4" headers and 3" H pipes and saw 14rwhp appear out of nowhere, and this is a stock 94' 5.0 mustang. with the cost of a new one, your paying for the looks and the name, all it is is a bent pipe, engineering? give me a break, as long as your intake is being fed clean cold air through the same diameter tubing with a less restricted filter element, then you're doing better than the stock one. i'd look at some cars like yours that already have CAI's installed and try to replicate that with PVC. then cover it in some thermal insulation and it'll look professional, as long as no PVC is showing. heh.

yeah...dont listen to this guy.

my dads getting antsy for the blue devil, can't wait to see one in his driveway...

good pwning

i thought it was a 5.4l head on the stang block... but i'll take your word because you'd know better then just about anyone here

If you get a blue devil, I'd prolly fly over just to look at it.

I remember distinctly reading it was the lightning block w/ GT heads because it would only be as strong as the lightning.

Of course, if they go forged, it doesn't matter. But the engine is as follows:

eaton blower

GT heads

lightning 5.4 block

Hey if you wanna go we will. Here is my 281 in its building process...

And for a N/A 4 valve, there is one that will run 10.03/ 133.88 MPH. Now because GM is still pushrods, and bigger CID they do take better to bolt ons, give you that. BUT stock vs stock, money vs money, ford still has em beat. My mach ran a 12.9 in 1/4 staock, my buddies ran 12.8 we both hit 7.8 in 1/8 mile AND got 27 MPG . My show car is a ***** am, there is noway in absolute hell that the LS motors will get that kind of MPG. ford made a smaller economy engine and made it fast.

And for the GT500 coming out, aluminum heads, same cast block as the lightning and running a Eaton R122 and air to liquid intercooler. 8.4:1 compression engine. They are de-tuned from factory because of economy standards. smaller pulley, exhaust, and tune, gonna be hard to beat. I work on these engines day in and out. The pushrods are a good motor if you want straight strip, but IMO, modular is way to go for street strip. That way you can pass couple more gas stations hehe. I actually just got through building a 01 cobra up. We put the 03 in there with a pro charger F1 pushing over 20 PSI , and on pump gas got 843 to the wheels. Me on the other hand, i wont tell you what boost im running but i will tell you its over 1000 rwhp. If you wanna play let me know. Im also building another mach as we speak he wants to stay on pump gas but if anyone pisses us off he will go over 1000 as well in a MODULAR engine as well. Also here is couple pics of a few cars we have worked on and my mustang and show car together.

Thats awesome  !!! Na, I just rebuilt my first GN. Should hopefully pull high 11's and low 12's when I get to tune it. Now its just a mid 12 sec DD.

I don't see how pushrod design will affect bolt-ons.. Besides the fact they will give better torque down low power-wise.

But anyway, I wish I had the resources you had. My goal is a 9 sec GN when I get done. Or a tubbed 67 chevelle w/ a BBC and a few turbos and funny juice.

Ill race your stock mach 1 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

LS1>4.6 LS1-6.86@ 205

Actually, I think Tim lynch just took the 10.5 outlaw w/ his TT stang....Running high 6.xx's

Do what we do down here. We bought dryer ducting, and ran it fromn the throttle body to the passengers side turn signal. Or you could run OPEN throttle body. If you don't care about your motor that is.hehehe
