Grounding secondary battery

I'm not quite breaking even but it would have probably gone for much less on Craigslist, Joey paid me a little more than we agreed on cuz he's a great guy like that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
That's cool

Nah, you were so gracious to accommodate my needs (which I ended up not needing) so just a little thank you.

Lol I should have taken off the original price because I couldn't get it shipped out until today

You should always ground the rear battery/battery bank but if you have multiple batteries in a rear battery bank, you should only ground the last battery to the frame or body.

The reason for this is that current follows the path of least resistance. That said, in order to get as much charge current as possible to the furthest battery from the alternator, you need it to be the only battery in the bank with the best path back.

One would think the path of least resistance would be the 0ga ground run, though. A 12y/o Wisconsin-driven rusty frame isn't ideal.

As long as the grounding points themselves aren't rusty, the frame is an excellent return path even with surface rust, et al. Electrons are tiny. ;-)

Not to mention, if all batteries have a zero gauge return path and the last one has the addition of a frame ground (rusty though it may be) that's still a better return path.

In other words, $10.01 isn't a lot more money than $10.00 but is is still more money.

Perfect analogy, thanks! I'll be moving my battery(ies) to the spare tire well at some point, too. Should be a decent ground spot near there.

He said it perfect. I have my 2 ground runs and chassis ..never have too many grounds ...but I also have dbl big 3 done ..I love electrical overkill.ur system will thank u

I've got it done both ways. You can never have enough grounds
This ^^^ times 200x ... I've got two frame grounds off batt back plus a run from up front .. Also a separate charge run from alt to back batt Ontop of the already pos run linked through front batt never hurt nobody (cough) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
