Installation in a Chevy Volt?

Was thinking about putting an audio system in my 2013 Volt, components and 1 12" or maybe 2 10" subs, but since the alternator/engine does not run most of the time, how would I wire this up, since it would virtually kill the battery every time?

I went to a local shop and they were not sure, as they have not done a Volt install yet. For anyone that does not know, the Volt is an electric vehicle, with 1 large (li-ion?) battery located in the middle/rear of car that powers everything for the first 35-45 miles, unless the outdoor temperatures get too low. After that, the gasoline engine starts and powers the car.

Thanks for any thoughts.

It cant kill the batt while moving because once the battery voltage drops too low the engine kicks on. A low power system would be easier to make work but that li-ion batt will power everything for a long time. The car draws massive amperage compared to audio equipment. You may notice a decrease in range but I would be minimal

if its anything like the prius its not that big of a deal. All the interior stuff still runs off a typical 12v batt. The prius hides them in the back. You will probably notice a drop in range but its totally possible to put a system in EV's. At least the prius is no problem. I would suggest a simple system like a single 12. Also try and find amps that are going to be the most power effecient.
