Grounding problem?

Ok, so I bought a kinetik 800 and put it in my trunk.

I ran 1/0 guage from front battery + to kinetik +, but because of lack of money and space stuck with grounding the kinetic in the trunk.

I grounded it to the same point that my amplifier has been grounded to for over a year and has given me no problems and when I finished all the connections I turned my car on and have an incredibly loud whine from my front speakers being powered by my amp.

I tried cleaning and resanding the grounding point, and even grounding the battery to another bolt in the trunk and I still get the whine. Any idea what I can do?

I was not having this problem before adding the battery, and I am pretty sure I set everything up correctly, rechecking and tightening connections more than once.

does it make this sound with the engine off, key on? does the pitch change with engine rpm? did you check the kinetik was fully charged before wiring it to the rest of the system?

The sounds still there when the key is in but engine off, just much quieter, and there is a small pitch change with higher rpm. I bought it new and assumed it was fully charged but didn't check that.

Well I had the whole system running without the kinetik before and no problems at all. All I did was add the kinetik in and got the problem. That was when I tried changing grounding points and all like I described before. And with the RCAs out there is no noise. It is all the same wires I had before except for the 1/0 running between the 2 batteries. Same 4 guage to the amp though.

sounds like you messed up your rca out on the hu....what model?

Bingo...you answered your own question...

go out and get some 0awg and wire the battery correctly...

I have a pioneer DEH-P680, but how could I have screwed up the RCA outs when I didn't touch them at all?

And mavster, what do you mean?? I have 0awg and wired it like I described in first post.

there's your problem, you popped the pico fuse protecting the rca's....get an isolator, or ground the rca shielding

They were good to me, now they are on Fedex trucks to be delivered to their new homes...
I'm looking to run a pair of USA2300s this summer...using some RSDs speakers/subs
the rsd subs are great....you gonna run the rsd or rsdc? check out my vids if rsd

I mean, make the batteries an independent circuit together...and not daisy chain all of it..

probably the whine is coming from the batteries charging/discharging...

Alright I have no clue what the pico fuse is haha

but is grounding the RCA shielding what is done in the ground loop sticky? with the wire wrapped around the RCA connections on the back of the HU?
