acceptable voltage drop

I have my head unit, amp, and changer all mounted in my trunk. 750w amp, 200w head and changer. what is acceptable voltage drop. I am getting 12.28 at batt and 11.1 at trunk. engine off. Looks like number 12 wire to amp and 2 14's to the head unit. This seems small for such a long run (over 140 ").

what you have is a mess... First of all, you can probably dump the battery in the trunk IF YOU WANT. is 12.28 with the car on or off, and with the stereo on or off?. 12ga. wire to the amp from the batteries???!!!

What GA. wire is going from the main car battery to the trunk battery?

what GA wire goes from the trunk battery to the amp?

i see no trunk battery?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
I'm with ya. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif also.

Upgrade to 4 ga. wire for the amplifier.

I'm sure he was saying its 12 gauge from bat to bat. and from the sounds of it hes got 14 gauge running from the trunk to the hu for some reason, don't know why. and I'm sure he also has 12 gauge going to the amps. for one, change all that wiring down to 1/0 gauge(from bat to bat) then replace your sub amp with 4 gauge(from bat in trunk) and your tweet amp id say you can use 8 gauge. from that i bet you watch the voltage rise at the bat in the trunk(to closer to 12v), my main prob is all of this is with the car off. this means when your driving id bet money your dropping below 11v, which is bad for everything. after you fix your run of wires, id upgrade your big three with the left over 1/0 gauge from running your bat wire. then id have to ask you about your two bat.'s, sounds to me like you do not have the right kind of 2nd bat(or first). if i where you id replace both of those bats with a nice deep cycle bat

he doesnt need 0 GA. for that setup, haha... im sure 4 or 8 will be just fine... Not that it couldnt hurt but....doesnt sound like he's ready for that

Voltage is usually higher with the car on...almost always... alternator powers the battery up

you have to read the hole post buddy.... is says do your big three and your battery cables in 1/0 gauge and your amps at 4 and 8, thanks for reading before you speak yet again.

don't know where the 2nd battery came from??? only one battery. One 750w exelon amp in trunk running a pair of 6" tubes. Looks like # 12 wire from amp goes to a fuse panel under dash hooked up to amp guage. The red and yellow to the head unit look like #16 wire running to the main fuse panel. This all looks small for such a long run.

oh by the way, all volt readings taken with eng off and radio off.
ether way once you turn that shit on it drops below 11v man, this is bad not only for your amp but for your car as well. sucks that alot of these guys don't know what there talking about, its ok tho you can listen to me. get one deep cycle bat and replace all the wiring as i said(- the shit about the 2nd bat.) there cheap and easy fix's and you will notice your tunes sound better. that guy is right tho make sure to use all your fuse's( according to the amount of watts your pulling out per amp so ad not to blow shit up)i think you will be vary happy when your done and spend less then 300
