Got my alternator today.(Need help fast.)

autozone and advanced can put it on a bench and do a max test, I suppose if its on a car they could roll the machine out and do an idle test, or you could clamp it

They said all they could do was test to see if it worked or not.:crazy:If I decide to have it tested now I'll go to Mechman.

alright you have fun with that... thats what i did my first time got a 240/105 off ebay for like 269... 7 alternators later i now run Mechman... only had 1 mechman in the car enough said

oh yeah mine was rated at 240 and it did i think 175 when matt benched it correct me if im wrong matt and also i think something lik 60 or 70 at idle

and to think i was only runnin like 2500-3000 rms on the alt...

The only way to accurately compare 2 or more products is to have controls on the test. Tested by the same equipment on the same bench or by the same equipment on the same car with the same load. Repeatability is crucial in having accurate, repeatable results. 'Scientific testing' is the only real way to know which product is better. Simply throwing a DC on my car and a Mechman on my truck would not be a scientific test, it would have far to many variables.

Peak amps aren't everything, what's the idle and low-speed output? You never know on a Fleabay alternator. Mechman will provide a dyno sheet with every unit.

Both are good, Mechman is better for the type of use that we see in our cars and trucks.

i wasnt talking about that... i was talking about comparing the Mechman and DC on my vehicle, same vehicle, same amount of batteries, full charge, same ohm load, same rms...

OH I agree 100%, but you are not going to get a MFG to agree to such a test. It will be something you will have to conduct on your own. A MFG is not going to put their company on the line using a test like this. They have little to gain and a whole lot to lose. They would rather test stuff in house and give you their skewed results.
