Got my alternator today.(Need help fast.)

I don't understand why everyone feels that Mechman should start handing out free alts for people to test. He doesn't need to prove a thing to you. Mechman has been proven in cars already. I've heard nothing but amazing reviews about the product and customer service. Any alt than can handle David's system is good in my book. The company doesn't need to prove to any individual its performance against another alt. Neither of these companies are going out of business anytime soon.

Want to know which is better in your application? Buy both and test. Don't want to spend a grand on alts? Ok then sit down, read the reviews, and make a good educated purchase.

Why would someone want to buy an alt to test it... Then it be put against the competitiors alternators an yet people like you, Alex, think that we should just fork over money and then go through all the work of posibbly getting a publisized article in a magazine of a head to head comparison:crazy:

Thats arrogant, I stated if the Mechman alt does out perform my current ones, I'd be more than happy to pay full retail. Thats MSRP, not what it sells for on the net. Overal if I ended up paying already for an alt that didn't perform well enough for my expectations why would it perform well enough for someone else? Why would the other person want to even buy from that MFG.

In the end, its more less an everyone stick together and try to prove a point by stating buy one and test for yourself. You apparently know Mathew Logan well enough, so have him post in here some more.

I seems to only be Mechman that has the problem with even so much as participating in this and yet Robbie had the attitude of, "Show me what you got", and "Lets put all this bullshit aside".

Only thing you would be making there is an educated guess(Hypothesis).

From my science crap I had to do in school I found out all the hypothesis crap is more wrong then right.

TNT, Idk your name but apparantly you know mine, let me clear some things up.

1. I don't know Matt at all. Sent him 2 pm's maybe. What I have seen is dozens of threads supporting Mechmans work and CS.

2. I understand a need for people to see how products rank against each other, but you can't expect a company to submit to a head to head test at someones whim. What if next week I call Mechman and demand a free alt to test head to head against...idk Iraggi? Should they? No, they should have better things to do then respond to some guy on a forum's demands.

I know it would be nice for them to have a head to head. But what's next? I need a free E55 AMG from Mercedes to compare against this M5? How about what brand of peanut butter tastes better? Yes in an ideal world it would be nice to have this info, but this world isn't perfect so we make the best purchases possible based on peoples first hand reviews and recommendations. The product is always changing and manufacturers can't go head to head on every single product they make.

Also I mean this for any alt company, any company in fact. I don't know anyone from any alternator company to be honest.

I may seem to be butting heads with TnT a bit here, but mostly because I've talked to him before. I know he can take some abuse haha.

I'm sorry if you feel that we over charge for our alternators. Unfortunately, because we deal STRICTLY with OEM product, we use only handwound stators, and use the highest quality components there are, our alternators are going to be more expensive. If we wanted to be like everyone else, we could just buy chinese alternators and put cheap windings and stock parts in them and lower costs, but that would be contrary to everything our company stands for.
We will still build it bigger, badder, better performing and longer lasting than anyone out there, and I have no problem delivering on that promise...

I never really heard of DC power or whatever you guys are called until i just reade this thread..... Isnt OHIO Generator on top in the ALT world? Or am I just an old timer that isnt up to par with the new alt companies? Thanks

"DC power will sell you a stock housing stator-swapped Denso unit, just like every other alternator company will. It will do OK at higher RPMS, but will have lousy output at idle, and probably NEVER make 250 amps at any RPM. Not to mention, that it will have much less cooling and half the rectifier"

Why don't you get your facts straight Matt, any time you want to take this up on "your" dyno, I'll be more than happy to get on a plane and prove you wrong..

Until then, you can keep quiet and stop spreading mis-information... Because according to you, the Denso units we sell which coincidentally actually bolt on peoples cars, have 12 diode rectifiers, cool better, and will flat out embarass those 4G alternators you sell just plain ****?? Keep on digging Matt.....

Here is the issue you guys are going to run into when trying to get a free product for testing purposes. If you were an accredited source for testing, they might be more inclined to submit a sample for testing, but to be brutally honest here, you guys are just a few Joe's on a forum that are willing to try them out. I know that would be good for the other members to see a real world in car test, but it is highly unscientific and I would doubt that the MFG would like to see this type of unscientific testing published from a normal guy such as yourselves.

Now what they probably would rather see is a more scientific testing facility that had specialized testing equipment like the stuff MechMan has at his disposal at the PowerMaster facility. I doubt that Rob (DC) or Dom (Irragi) would submit their products to Matt for him to test though. I know I would not trust anything but an impartial 3rd party test.

If you still feel like doing the testing and cannot afford to buy them yourself, why don't you two guys simply swap alts for a week, that way both of you could try out the other brand and get some feedback from each other.

You right, why would a MFG want to participate in some forum shit heads request? Main forth I think as little of a subject this is, its a little over board to compare to testing cars.. But now that I think about it. There are people who test cars, add reviwes on them, and publish it in the automotive consumer report.

Also did you not know you can physicaly test drive any vehicle in the world known to man? Hell last week I test drove a Mercedes SLS500. That's a 150K car. And the dealership was more than willing to let me compare that to a porsche carrera and drive both.

I can see why mechman wouldn't want to participate but then again why not?

rob said earlier in this thread he would grab an alt ad go to mechmans for a head to head test never heard mechman say come one lets do it...If they do though I want to see vids of rpms and what amps its putting out at said rpm..
