Good 12" sub around 1000W for small sealed box??

Here is the plot for both the Arc "Arc" series 12" $259 retail & the DC LVL 3 in your 0.95cuft enclosure. As you can tell the Arc has a MUCH flatter response & will be better suited for SQ. It also has a lower -3db point (not by much) but you can play lower without risk of damaging the subwoofer (subsonic filter around 40hz). Also look at the second picture to view the SPL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Those graphs are impressive, it's a shame I have no idea what they mean, LOL

I am looking for a sub that will work well in a small enclosure, have decent SQ, and will hit the low end good when I want to turn it up.

The DC LvL 3 seems to be getting the most reccommendations for what I need.

Thanks!

You can try the pioneer ts-3002d2(4). Its 1000 watts rms and works in .50 cu ft to 1.00 cu ft. Its a loud sub and also hits the lows very well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif oh and you can find it for about $120 brand new.

For SQ you want a good, smooth flat curve (first pic, white/yellow line). The Arc subs as you can tell are for small, sealed enclosures. These graphs do not tell the full story. It tells what they might do, but not the tonal quality of the driver... Enclosure is NUMBER 1. Sub is number TWO!!

The purple line represents on how low the subwoofer can safely play, without damage. The Arc will play lower(not much) than the DC in that enclosure. Notice white line is a little more left.

Look at the second graph. So how the subs response is flat & even higher SPL across the board from the DC 3. The DC 3 from what I hear is a good sub, but will not give you great results in this small of a enclosure if you want low bass extension (hip-hop). If you had tons of room, then it would be different. But you don't.

If your seriously looking at any other sub, let me know & i'll model them for you to show you the response with .95 cuft.

P.S. Same power, same everything except T/S parameters which were directly from Arc & DC website.
Are you talking about the little 350rms subs with 16mm of Xmax. I think something is wrong with your graph. And why would you set the SS at 40hz.. The DCs can easily play in the 20s

I clicked the 39hz because this is a sealed box (reference) -3db down point. You cannot adjust tuning freq (the sealed box does that). If it was ported, sure we can do all types of things... But it's a .95 sealed. Not too many parameters to change. I did have the wattage cranked up & even when I pull both down looks almost identical.

This is not 100% what something will sound like.. Many other factors go into play (cabin gain, etc) but it can give you a idea..
